About this product

Product Information

The sequel to 2000's critically acclaimed adventure game, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall initially follows the story of Zoë Castillo as she stumbles across a conspiracy that could spell the end of humanity. Yet young Zoë is not the storyline's only protagonist. The original game's April Ryan and new character Kian are also playable through multiple chapters, each offering distinct abilities and viewpoints in their respective worlds. Players will explore a futuristic version of Earth, a fantasy realm, and even the mysterious world of dreams while interacting with a wide variety of characters and solving puzzles from a third-person perspective.

Dreamfall departs from traditional adventure games in the degree of freedom afforded by the game design. Players are expected to interact with each world in multiple ways, whether it's through combat, stealth, or communication. Interpersonal dialogue can be courteous, rude, menacing, or flirtatious, depending on the situation and characters involved. The interface is also different from typical games in the genre, as the screen is largely unobstructed by icons, menus, or text. Each character has a field of vision that automatically highlights objects that can be manipulated. The entire adventure spans an estimated 20 to 30 hours of play, with multiple visits encouraged to seek out alternate endings, hidden areas, and more.

    Compellingly Intricate...

Originally designed for PC, it is now playable on the original Xbox or Xbox 360 with an update. It will not play on Xbox One, yet ( I stopped playing my Xbox One to go back to this game)...The gameplay, story and characters will have you way more involved than you can imagine. It combines elements of the Matrix, Science Fiction, Medieval Roleplay like AC, Fable and Fable 2, puzzle solving and fighting - And so many plot twists that all converge, it just never gets boring. I love this game.

  • Great Game!

This is a great game! I don't have a lot of time for games, but I'm able to turn this on once every couple days and pick up where I left off without being totally disoriented. Some of it is overly simple, walk, click, lots of talking to people, and the "fighting" only works if you're meant to win. But the story is good and you play multiple people at once, which seems like it would get confusing but it's only confusing because the story is still unfolding. The main characters are Zoe and April, two female characters. I recommend this game to any females who want to find a good adventure game for the XBox!

  • a great game that should not be missed with a well deserved cult status.

I bought dreamfall mainly because I wanted to see why it has such a devoted cult following it has today, and also wanting to see if my 360 will play original xbox games in disc form without having to download it.(as it was not on the xbox live arcade anymore) well I will start with what I like for the story and characters and that both are interesting enough for me to just keep going and see the fates of all three of the ones you play as, my biggest gripes with the game is the combat as it can be quite shallow and feel just tacked on but thankfully its a rare occurrence to be in fighting situations, another would have to be that it just ends rather abruptly with unanswered questions and a sequel bait like ending which in this day in age is an annoying trend in today's games(thankfully ...

  • A gorgeously interesting title.

I played through this with my ex GF and we fell in love with the story. Zoe is a well voiced and though out character and there is some very interesting other-worldy moments. I'm not the one to beat every game I have but this one pulled me through to the end and left me wanting more. I absolutely loved this title. There's a sequel coming to PS4 and XB1 so I can't wait to get my hands on that either. If you like cool, futuristic stories I would definitely recommend this to you. Truthfully I'm really surprised this game isn't up there in the high $80 range.

  • Dreamfall The Longest Journey

Haven't found anything I don't like so far. Very addictive-can't put it down. Very true to life gameplay. Challenging tasks both physical and mental make it fun to figure out, but not so hard it's annoying and takes forever to solve. Beautiful landscape on several different worlds. This game was rated high on Gamespot and XPLAY, so that's why I gave it a shot. Plus, we've played a bit of the original, The Longest Journey.
