Great Technics knock off
Though a knock off of the Technics 1200 series TT, this unit still performs as good. The tone arm isn't that much lighter, tho I've seen reviews saying it is, and the motor torque seems comparable to the Technics. Start up is quick and easy, manual-only operation, which doesn't bother me in the least. Still have to test to see whether the built in pre-amp really affects the high frequencies and cartridge loading that I've read so much about. I will bench test the TT to see if it's truly a concern. Right now, tho, it's the most affordable upgrade to my old Pioneer that I can muster on my budget, and it seems super well built. Very heavy plinth seems rock solid. I haven't had a chance to listen to it much, tho, since I got it, work has been commanding all my time. Unit arrived from ... Unit arrived from seller just fine, a bit of tape glue was on the dust cover, but that should come off pretty easily. For a reject unit, I found everything worked as it should, mechanically and electronically, so I'm not sure why it was rejected (label on the box said it was a reject). It works for me and everything on it seems to be in sound mechanical and electrical order. I can't complain. Anything that I find amiss, I'm sure I can fix it myself, it's not a big deal, I'm no stranger to phonographs of all kinds. The price point was good and the shipping was free, so that was a good deal, too. Many have complained about the counterweight being too light, but compared to many other vintage TT's, I find that it's just fine. Since I play a lot of older vinyl, a heavier stylus pressure is fine anyway. A Shure M-44 performs nicely on this unit with plenty of output compared to the stock AT 93 it comes with. Overall, a good starter table for someone looking to get into the higher end of things. I'm glad it plays at 78 RPM as well, that's important for what I do for restoration work. Overall, a very good deal.

Some faults on the USB adapter, but perfectly fine otherwise.
USB is hosed. Left channel is "in the middle", right channel is dimmed and appears behind the left channel, leaving me to wonder what factory refurbished it. On the good side, the line out is fine, and also adequate for what I wanted: a decent turntable I could plug into the computer and won't damage my records. Rumble/motor noise/servo noise is audible in non-music passages between tracks, but not really a problem when there's actual music. Audacity software is included, but it's easier to download the current version from the internet. The included manual is nice though, if you haven't used it before. A lot of features to use as a DJ (speed adjustment, forward/reverse ability to replace cartridge carrier easily (not included), but beyond checking that they seemed to work, i'm not ... USB is hosed. If you're trying to archive/make portable any weird records you've found with no Internet presence, the AT LP120USB is a strategy you can feel confident about. If it's not at just the right speed, the strobe (A rare feature at this price range) will let you diagnose and fix the problem without guesswork. The platter is sturdy enough you can solve basement and thrift shop warpage with just a simple weight. To assemble this vinyl player is very easy. It is a budget vinyl player for the radio broadcast quality. It comes with every basic functions as the professional one. The digital recording function from vinyl to computer passing through the USB is nowadays, becomes the must-have function in every vinyl players, which is one in many reasons that I decided to buy this model. But maybe, I am not lucky enough to use this USB recording function. Because accidentally, after recording on my computer, the sound became distort all the times which I thought that it'll not happen on every computers for sure. (But only mine)... But anyway, I've used the alternative way to record it, and it works. I'm very pleased with the quality of its sound. I connected passing through my analog Pre-amplifier ... Perfect For Novices - A Great Deal For Others
Let me start by saying I had my doubts when I read reviews of this product. Apparently however, they didn't know what they were talking about. This turntable is perfect in nearly every way. It does have drawbacks, which I'll get to in a moment. My old turntable was awful: the right channel was lower, too much bass, not enough treble, had vibrations through stylus when a song was bass-heavy, skipped all over, and sometimes took forever to start playing at the right speed. This turntable eliminated every single one of my problems! The sound from the very first song was amazing and total CD quality. The counter measure and anti-skating controls on the system work fantastically, and there are hardly any skips at all. For the skips that do occur, they are caused by imperfections of the ... Let me start by saying I had my doubts when I read reviews of this product. Apparently however, they didn't know what they were talking about. This turntable is perfect in nearly every way. It does have drawbacks, which I'll get to in a moment. My old turntable was awful: the right channel was lower, too much bass, not enough treble, had vibrations through stylus when a song was bass-heavy, skipped all over, and sometimes took forever to start playing at the right speed. This turntable eliminated every single one of my problems! The sound from the very first song was amazing and total CD quality. The counter measure and anti-skating controls on the system work fantastically, and there are hardly any skips at all. For the skips that do occur, they are caused by imperfections of the record. Features include a "target light" to help you place the stylus in low-level lighting situations, height adjustment, a forward and reverse feature, pitch control with quartz lock, and a strobe light that shines on the "bumps" on the platter that tells you if the platter speed is accurate or not. Also it's a direct drive turntable! Another feature included is the 78 RPM speed. Putting it all together wasn't complicated and would be easy for anyone. The platter assembly was extremely easy: you just set it down where the spindle comes through the hole in the middle. That's it! The stylus is put at the end of the tone arm, and a screw is turned counterclockwise to secure it. The dust cover was on in a minute. Probably the best feature is the ease of transferring your records to the computer. It's USB friendly. It's so friendly that you plug up the USB cord to the turntable, to the computer, adjust the volume settings, and hit record on your program of choice. It does come with free Audacity for this purpose if you're not familiar with recording yet. The major drawback for this unit is the RCA *male* outputs on the back. At first, I thought I would have to buy a female adapter if I wanted to use this method to transfer songs to the computer, but it does come with other cords that you can hook up to it to make it adaptable. Another problem one can run into is the stylus that comes with this player (AT 95E). Don't get me wrong. Even though it might be recommended to update the stylus later to a better quality one, if you're playing 33 or 45 RPM vinyl, this one works just fine. However, it's not for use with 78 RPM records. Some may think this player isn't good because it's not automatic. If that's what you want, then this player wouldn't be for you. However, the sound quality makes up for that 1000% in my opinion. This would make a perfect player for novices or someone who just wants to revisit some old times. It's perfect for me too. I'm in the process of transferring several hundred records. I'm more than halfway done. No problems yet!
