I bought this game looking for a satisfying co-op experience with my friends (and in this case, my brothers), but it fell short, and most of our time was spent mocking it instead. The actual gameplay was thoroughly enjoyable once we got familiar with the controls and knew what to expect, but other issues constantly broke our immersion in the game. Surprisingly though, the problems covered by most of the other reviews were no problems at all with us here. Graphics lacked polish and looked lower-budget, but not only did they satisfy my brothers and I-- we liked them and the feel they gave. Guns have some spray to them, and it's such a pain to lean against (some) walls for cover that it isn't worth the effort to try, but these issues are easily compensated with either skill or creativity. The only real issue we walked away from this game with was the story. The story that I was sold (and the reason why I bought the game) was that Kane and Lynch were two good-as-dead men that have no choice but to rely on each other to survive after they escape a prison fate. The story of the game winds up entirely focused on Kane's daughter, and has you do some ridiculously complicated things (story-wise, not difficulty-wise) for what seem like silly things. Don't get me wrong, you do some sweet stuff. You escape police, you rob a bank, you bust back into and back out of prison, you invade Cuba, you rush a jungle hideout Bond-style, and you get to shoot down planes and helicopters. All these things are really fun, but I never felt like there was any valid reason for doing any of them. I essentially abandoned the story line altogether and just tried to enjoy the new locations and outfits we got to kill in. The main issue my brother had with the game was a lack of stats/a score. We finished the game (co-op all the way, took three days casual playing) and the first thing he did was search the game menus for some type of tracking system to see how he and I compared in terms of how well we both did. There isn't any such system, which really robs the game of its replay value and meaning in general. I am happy that I had a chance to play this game through and experience some delightful scenarios (for example, a shootout in a night club with a panicked mob running in all directions and bad guys seeded throughout, wading our way to come take care of bidness), but it's not something I would pay full retail price for. I'll be keeping it for awhile just because I have no other multiplayer ps3 games to offer my real life friends, but aside from that: This game is a rental, through and through. P.S.: on the multiplayer note... there is online play and there is LAN play, but split-screen is not supported here. The only place two people can play together split-screen in this game is the Campaign; LAN requires multiple playstations.Read full review
this game has a great story line, but it lacks in excellent game play. First the player is not set in the center of the screen but off to the left. Second the aiming on this game is way off i dont know if they were trying to prove the reality shooting a firearm or just couldnt adjust the x and y axis properly. Third sometimes you can shoot the enemy once and he'll die, other times you have to shoot him more that Tony Montana on Scarface to kill him. Another bad detail of this game is that you dont know how much life you have left, sometimes you get sprayed with 4 shotguns at once and live other times one shot will kill you, i dont know wheather to run and gun or hide like a coward behind some wall. Another negative aspect is the crouching, you can crouch behind walls to avoid getting shot, but i've learned that there is no point in crouching because the enemies still shoot you no matter if your ducking your head is always reavealed. 1 thing that is fun about the game is the multiplayer, running down the streets shooting at pigs with your buddies is pretty fun.Read full review
Kane & Lynch seems like an average 3rd person action game but it has a lot of style and a story and voice acting to make it hard to put down. I admit that the graphics aren't too great and there are some frame rate issues but the action is intense and the acting is very believable. Your characters are two ex-hitmen who worked for some powerful mobsters who need you to do one last job before they kill you. Kane is the level-headed one who is just trying to get his life back together and wants to mend his past mistakes while Lynch is a pill-addicted psychopath. The gameplay isn't the best but with atmosphere they setup for the game, it just doesn't get any better. I got this game mainly because I liked the demo for the sequel so I had to start from the beginning. If you're looking for something else, get this game. What do you have to lose? This game can be purchased for cheap and you'll be glad you did.Read full review
"Kane and Lynch" is about 2 psychos who break out of prison. One of the psychos goes by the name of "Kane", and the other is "Lynch". The story is generally about "Kane and Lynch" killing endless supplies of people, at first to help this group called "The Seven" and later to hurt "The Seven". Anyway, I feel its needless to say that the story isn't anything special. Expect an average action-movie like story with this game. "Kane and Lynch" is about what you would expect from a shooter. You go places, and you kill people. Still, playing Kane and Lynch can be fun (especially with a friend). Anyway, long story short, if you have a couple bucks to spend, and you want a fun game to play with a friend (offline) then pick "Kane and Lynch" up. Its worth picking up for cheap.
Awesome game on PS3, I played it on xbox 360 and the graphics weren't as good and there is an add-on for the game that is included in a patch for the game and on xbxo 360, you need to go out of your way to get it. The game is so fun, you really need to play this one and then the sequel, both are great on PS3, I also had the 2nd one on xbox 360 also and the servers lagged so badly, not on PS3...This game is pretty tough to find for PS3 so I say get it while it doesn't cost too much! Note: since this game is older it has no trophies to unlock for your PSN account.
