The Junkiest Tech Item I've Ever Paid 500.00 For!
I bought this camera two years ago at the birth of our second son only to be disappointed with the money and time I wasted. I bought this dvdcam brand new from BEST BUY for around $500.00 after taxes. Terrible. By appearance, you would expect this model to meet all your high expectations. It's small, sleek and convenient for the overstuffed home. With Dolbys endorsment, I could only expect the best but instead got junk. The cam takes AWFUL night video, you'll be lucky to see anything at all unless you are filming outside in direct sunlight. You cannot film/take stills anywhere there isn't FULLY bright lighting. There is no sort of flash/night option. Videos are often grainy and pixelated. There can be absolutely no movement in any of the stills or your full picture will be ... I take good care of my technology and after two months the disc door quit opening, you have to pull the door manually which is quite the hassle. This cam does not properly link through USB and is NOT COMPATIBLE with the Vista browser. My recommendation: Spend a little extra and do not purchase a HITACHI : (((

I was new to the mini DVD's but I really like this camcorder. The zoom is amazing, and you can delete and rewrite to the disks. I get about 30 minutes of video on a disk, which could be better, but I think it's better than having 6 hours on a disk, and then trying to find what you want to see. Home videos get boring if they're too long anyway. The battery only last about 30 minutes too, which is a little short. I bought additional lenses for telephoto and wide angle, but the camera does better on it's own. Great Camera-Easy to use
I bought this camera for a trip to Europe and to make videos for Youtube,Very easy to use.Video picture quality is good,but digital photo quality is poor.You must have a separate program on your pc to convert the disc files to mpegs so you can upload to Youtube.This is my First video camera and I love it ,very easy to use.

small light weight camera
I purchased this camera because I thought it used normal sized discs, but found out that it uses the mini dvds, which turns out I like because I don't have to use up a regular disc and I can tape different subjects by switching the disc. It is easy to use by following the menu. I love that it is small,light weight, and easy to use. It is so easy to carry or stuff in a bag.
