  • Still a great camera after all of these years!

I have recently started shooting film again with some pro-sumer type cameras and have found the Minolta Maxxum 5000 a sound camera, when you can get a good well kept one! The item I found appeared to be in great condition and except for the Sigma lens that it came with, is turning out to be a favorite of mine for simplicity of use and the great throwback look that film in an older camera gives to pictures. The camera feels solid in your hand, albeit a bit heavier than some other prosumer cameras that I have used. But the weight is welcome and helps in balancing some of the longer zoom lenses! If you don't have large hands, or if you prefer light cameras then this one is not for you unless you want a bit of a work out :) I find that the Program mode for this camera, with lenses from the ...

  • Minolta AF Camera

I have a Maxxum 7000. I love it. My dad also had on and put me on to it. We have had them since they came out in the early 80's, and the other manufacturer's tried to copy them. They are still sought after because of their durability, quality, and optional functions. You can't go wrong with this camera. I am now looking at a 5000, just to have another I can carry with me in my car at all times. I live near the beach in NJ, and many professional sell photos at craft shows. The photos I've taken are as good or better than those. My dad called it an idiot camera, because any idiot could only take spectacular pictures when the camera is set in the auto focus mode.

  • This Camera Is a Tank!

This Camera is a Tank , with the meaning , you cant kill it ! Its Built STRONG,and Built Simple. All Controls are easily accessed and clearly Marked.Nothing on the camera will easily break like some battery doors or pop up flashes like on some models. Lenses are very inexpensive should you decide to pick up a few differnt focal lenghts ..Only con is there is a rubber thumb pad on the back theat falls off , but it affects nothing operational , just the astetics of the unit . It can easily be glued back on provided you havent lost it ...On some later Minoltas (The 9000), The LCD screen was an issue with Bleeding . This Model Rarely had that Trouble. Battery compartments from the 7000 will fit this camera as will the film door .. Pictures come out GREAT because of its internal Brain. It tells ...

  • Minolta Maxxum 5000 Film Camera

Even though the company is out of the camera business now, there are a lot of Minolta lenses and accessories that will fit the new Sony digital SLRs so you can buying them free of worries since Sony boughtout Konica Minolta therefore the Minolta's lenses works so perfect on a Sony Camera Body. What I love the most about it?........ easy to use, excellent pictures and my #1 reason,..the shuter speed, specially when chasing a 2 year old.

  • Very User Friendly Auto Focus Camera

I purchased this camera about 4 months ago. I have run at least 3 rolls of film thru the camera, and everyone turned out excellent. I like the 35mm cameras, have had several in the past. I purchased 2 other cameras, before I got this one, and had to return them because of Dead On Arrival. This camera was in excellent working condition and has been well maintained. I know that similar cameras sell for less, but I also know that there are Minolta Maxxum 5000 camera bodies on Ebay for more than the price of this camera.
