  • Great DVD That Tries to Answer a Historical Question

    In this video done with Peter Jennings as the presenter various experts try to explain the decision making that went into the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, as well as Nagasaki. It is mostly a reaction to the closing of the exhibit that was on display at the National Air and Space Museum. The main reason explored and to some extent discredited is that it was dropped to save American soldiers lives. Another reason explored was that it was done to bring a quicker end to the war in order to keep the Russians out of the war. Lastly it explores the possible alternatives that the US had, which included abandoning their push for unconditional surrender and just allowing the Emperor to remain a cermonial head of state, which is what in fact actually happened and may have ended the ...
