    Cat loves it

    Fountain works good and the cat loves it. The cat now doesn't try to drink out of the faucet as much when we are doing dishes, etc... It does require some regular cleaning, as it starts to feel slimy after a few weeks, but nothing different than a regular water bowl does. They recommend cleaning I believe every few days, but I go a few weeks between cleanings. I give it a quick rinse and wipe down to get rid of the slimy feeling surfaces, rinse or replace the charcoal filter (found knock off online for much cheaper than the Drinkwell OEM filter), then refill. I spend about 5 minutes cleaning every few weeks.

    CONTAMINATES THE WATER!!

    This item is terrible because it contaminates and makes the water smell really bad. I've put 4 gallons of water through it so far and after an hour of running, you can take the water out and smell it it smells like motor oil. I definitely don't recommend using this especially if it makes you force the cats to drinking it because they will drink it eventually but it is contaminated! I believe the smell is coming from the motor or the carbon filter either case it stinks and gave my cat diarrhea..

    A good investment!

    If you are looking for a fountain for your pet, this is the one! I have multiple cats, and they love this fountain! They all took to it very quickly. It was easy to set up and is easy to maintain. I like that it has a control for the water flow, so I can slow it down or have it a little faster at times. There is some sound to it, but it is basically like having the sound of a decorative fountain. It takes very little space, and it looks far more attractive than the bowls I was using. I highly recommend this product.

    PetSafe Drinkwell Platinum Pet Fountain

    This is one of the best products you can get for your pets. My cats love this! They drink more water during the day which is important - especially for cats. This larger size is also perfect for dogs and i's very easy to clean and maintain.

    Good for the money

    Pros: The waterer is easy to set up and easy to clean and easy to refill. It is quiet and because it circulates the water, it keeps the temperature much lower than standing water. My dogs love it. Cons: It is a smaller than I expected from the 'large' that I purchased- I have two boxers, one of which refuses to drink standing water and so it gets crowded and messy when both dogs want a drink at the same time. The advertisement did not specify that it was for 'indoor use only' however the manufacturers instructions state just that- I am using it outside under the shade of a patio and it seems to be fine, I just clean it a couple times a week instead of the recommended once per week. Overall a really good product for the money.
