Being a electrical engineer and having been a NASA technical director for over 20yrs, I thought I would write a few words to clear up using this capacitor and make peoples decision to use it easier. This product meets all the electrical specifications as the label states, even exceeds them. The only difference in fit, is,. It is slightly smaller in diameter than older capacitors of the same specification. This is because this capacitor is of a more advanced newer design and construction techniques internally requiring less space to accomplish its function..Many new capacitors of this specification values still use very old manufacturing methods. they make them the old way. In electronics, Old school is rarely better. In the case of capacitors it is never better. You will also notice, this ... In electronics, Old school is rarely better. In the case of capacitors it is never better. You will also notice, this capacitor does not have any flammable warnings on the label as older capacitors, and many new still manufactured using older techniques , have warnings. This is because the construction materials in this product do not use flammable oils. Making this product safer. The life of this type design is much longer than the older style. The only modification you may need to make will be due to the diameter of this device being slightly smaller. Your mounting bracket may be fixed to hold the older style fatter caps. This capacitor is about 20% smaller diameter. You can simply adjust your bracket by crimping it to be smaller, or take some aluminum tape (used to wrap heating/a/c duct work) and tear off strip of about 5 inches long. Removed the paper backing off the tape, and fold a one inch section of the tape upon itself , and repeat 5 times to make a folded shim. The aluminum tape is safe and none flammable and will not effect the device operation. Place the tape square between the capacitor and the mounting bracket as a wedge shim and tighten your bracket. This should give the capacitor an effective bigger diameter , so you can use your existing mount. You will be very pleased with this device. You will have a superior capacitor, built to more advanced , standards and cheaper than the older ones. You may never have to change that cap again.
