About this product

Product Information

On San Piedro, an island of rugged, spectacular beauty in Puget Sound, a Japanese-American fisherman stands trial for murder. Set in 1954 in the shadow of World War II, Snow Falling on Cedars is a beautifully crafted courtroom drama, love story, and war novel, illuminating the psychology of a community, the ambiguities of justice, the racism that persists even between neighbors, and the necessity of individual moral action despite the indifference of nature and circumstance.

  • Historical fiction at its FINEST....

Seems to me that as Americans, we all need to be more aware of our history. Not ancient history, mind you, just our last generation. This author articulates the tale of unconscionable acts perpetrated against an entire group of people based solely upon their ethnicity and race. AMERICANS of Japanese descent rounded up and deprived of their property and of their liberty. Hard to believe the champion of the "Progressive Left", FDR, signed the War Department’s blanket Executive Order 9066, which authorized the physical removal of all Japanese Americans into internment camps. This story follows up the years since then in our own back yard here in the Puget Sound.. Awesome!!!

  • Awesome Book

Yet another perfect condition book that arrived to my home that I will give to my daughter for Chirstmas. She loves to read and how fun to be able to give a nice hard cover book to a young child. She will keep this book forever and pass it down to her children. A perfect book, arriving brand new, crisp and clean.
