  • A great introduction to DC's supernatural characters.

The Books of Magic by Neil Gaiman is a good place to start if you are interested in the more supernatural characters of the DC Universe and focuses on the young character of Timothy Hunter who is destined to become the world's greatest magician (remember that Hunter predates Harry Potter by a few years when you read it). It basically introduces you to everyone from the Phantom Stranger, Zatanna Zatara, and John Constantine to more minor characters like Doctor Thirteen, Madame Xanadu and many many others. You learn that these characters exist in the same world as the more popular DC superheroes but deal with the more magical side of the spectrum.

  • The Books Of Magic

I'm a big Neil Gaiman fan, and I heard this is a very well-done series and concept that was the initial inspiration for the ongoing series, so I had to check it out.
