I bought an older model. The one I bought was in great condition and suites my needs. I think mine is from around 2008. I think for the most part, a more recent model would be better for most people, at least 2011 and above. I'm happy with my Mac. Good for at home use
This laptop is awesome value, and you really can't beat the price. It was less dented and beat up than I had expected. Only issue is the battery shortage, does not hold a charge for longer than 2 hours which sucks. And there seems to be viruses or internal issues, kicks off of internet an application crash unexpectedly in the middle of projects. I had a tiny little scratch on the top easily covered with a case. It was outdated but I updated it to the Mac OS Sierra update and made it work much better and the apps were updated. You would never know it's a 2010 MacBook. It runs quickly and it's very sleek with minimal cosmetic wear externally. My only complaint is the battery lasts a very short time.
