One of the Greatest Cartoon Fantasies of all Time.

Once upon a time, there were some people called the Rushers of Din. Each night as they slept, sweet dreams were delivered to them from sunny Frivoli, while nightmares came to them from the mysterious Murkworks. But the malevolent master of the Murk, Synonamess Botch, was not content. He wanted the Rushers to have non-stop nightmares. To do that, he would need to gain control of the Cosmic Clock. To accomplish this, he kidnaps the deliverers of the dreams, Greensleeves and the Figmen of Imagination, and then tricks Ralph, the All-Purpose Animal and his pal Mumford into stealing the mainspring from the Cosmic Clock. Realizing they've been tricked, Ralph and Mumford try to get the spring back and prevent Botch from unleashing his nightmare bombs. I'm so glad I finally got a copy.

  • Twice Upon a time (an unknown treasure of a film)

In 1983 Twice Upon a Time was released to a critic's nightmare for a film that seriously way ahead of it's time, and for the critic of the day, they had no idea how to review a movie that South Park today uses the very same style. Held in the Warner vaults for many years due to licensing and the copyright issues with music, Twice upon a time was only available on VHS & Laserdisc by Warner Home Video in 1991 in the original 1:33 35mm or 4x3 aspect ratio. The 1991 released was trimmed to make it more family friendly with a new dialog track that toned down the language. So, there are two versions to this film, the director's cut were the language was softened for the young kiddies and the more (and far funnier) PG version for the big kiddies (both are included in this DVD). This new ...

  • The George Lucas Production Nobody Knows About

Charming Animated John Korty film using unique "Lumage" cut paper technique that provide a singular visual experience, with fine score and with songs by Michael McDonald, and great voice characterizations. Buried down the credit list is a "Special Camera Effects" title for David FIncher. I first caught up with this on HBO back in '84 with the "PG-rated" voice track so that's the version I prefer but, fortunately, this disk provides both that track and a more "family friendly" G-rated track. Would have thought a production done under the George Lucas imprimatur would have been marketed better.

  • Fun film and highly unique.

The music is dated and not so great but the film holds up! It has some amazing effects and is just as charming and funny as I recall. Watch the original cut. The studio redid some of the dialogue to appeal to college students without the directors consent and it seems out of place when watching it. Some light swearing but it does nothing to improve the film. The film was animated by using plastic cutouts and back-lit resulting in a very unique look. Some of the scenes I have no idea how they did them but looks like they constructed sets underwater (You'll see what I mean).

  • Fun & quirky movie and high-quality disk.

This one of the highest-quality DVDs I've ever had. And as for the movie itself, I'd recommend it to anyone! Anybody who likes quirky, offbeat films like 'Repo Man', 'Buckaroo Banzai' or the works of Terry Gilliam will enjoy this too, I guarantee it! It's perfect for families, but especially good for kids who are looking to transition out of Disney, but are still too young for R-rated fare like 'Heavy Metal' or 'Akira'. And I especially want to promote the unique and innovative animation-style; a fun, experimental-type not seen much anymore. Anyone who loves animation, but is looking for something outside the mainstream with an artistic-bent will, I think, be very pleased. Thank you very much!
