I was a bit skeptical as to how good the wireless controller would be, and aside from having to figure out how to wake the controller from sleep mode (hit START, took a while before I accidentally did that) I have been impressed with just how well it works. The refurbished console itself works just as well as my original PS2 did all those years ago. It has been wonderful to have a means of playing the handful of games that my backwards compatible PS3 doesn't like, and before you recommend emulators most of them are on the list that you have to use special compatibility features or PCSX2 has problems with (and even with using those settings they still have some definite problems), emulators aren't always the answer, especially if you can get a good refurbished console instead like this one.Read full review

60 bucks for a fat ps2 is amazing. However I was having issues with the system reading discs. Any time I out a game in, the ps2 would go to the boot menu. Then, after 1 or 2 minutes the game would finally play. The only game that would load instantly was guitar hero 1. Really weird. Any ways I took it apon myself to open the system up and carefully clean the laser eye. Welp, now the darn thing won't power on, no stand by light, nothing. I must have blown a fuse in it, but I would have no idea how that could have happened. Very aggravating. Just be careful with the fat ps2's, there not exactly tanks..... There rather fragile.

Thought my slim PS2 went belly up, and didn't want to spent $$$ on current game consoles. I got this Fat Console earlier than expected and set it up, popped in a disc, memory card, and played for a couple hours. No problems encountered, and here and there still enjoying the Fat PS2 console. Worth every cent spent if you enjoy PS2 games without the need of present day's graphics.

I owned two PS2 units, one of them 1st gen, the other 2nd gen... and both of them performed really nice... until the day in which the DVD-ROM simply stops recognizing the game disk. In the case with my first PS1, the drive just died, period (no disk was playable whatsoever). The second one, the drive was able to play certain disks, but suddenly it would lose grip of the disk, and the disk would start making weird noises while spinning + the game would freeze in the middle of a scene. Very annoying, as it does not let you save before it does that... What is remarkable in the case with the dying drive is the actual timing. The drives died on me after exactly 1 year and 2 months of use. Meaning, exactly when the warranty was up! Repairing the console would cost you almost as much as buying yourself a new one... If I was a person who believed in conspiracy theories, I was going to think that Sony put some kind of "time bomb" chip in the drive, to invalidate it, to force the user to buy a new console... Umm!!! Anyway, I think the PS2 is a great platform, especially content-wise. At the time it was also the quality leader out there, hands down. Also I love the Sony brand and it pains me to give such a low rating to their flagship product. But their technical issues cost me a lot of money so Sony Corp. does need to get their act together in order to remain competitive. If you are interested in buying a PS2, maybe you will never have problems like the ones I had, but then again, what are the odds of having two brand new consoles die on the same person in the exact same way, after the exact same amount of time of moderate usage? Buy at your own risk, and consider yourself warned.Read full review
The system and wireless controller worked, but the 2 wired controllers were busted. I had extra controllers already do not a huge issue. The system itself works, as do the other accessories included (dvd remote, extra memory card)

I was excited to get the ps2. I hooked it up to my tv and played one of my all time favorite games of my childhood and, I noticed that the right analog stick was a bit screwy. It won’t rotate my character at all and, it’s really touchy. I set my finer tip to the top of it and it made my character swing its sword. So, with that being said. The system itself works great and, graphics are as expected to be on the ps2. Only thing I would recommend is to buy, another controller because it the one they give you might be faulty as well.

Even though this was a refirbished Playstation2, it works just fine! The only thing is that it didn't come with a memory card. Had to order one. It's all good!

Truth be told, the only reason I got this system for myself (and later for my Dad) is that we both really like the two major games from the Kingdom Hearts series, and this is the console that plays them. Even so, the PS2 system is the processing foundation that allows these terrific games to realize their potentials, with excellent graphics and neat controls for those games. The gaming experience is further accentuated by increasingly complex backgrounds, animations, and fighting techniques in the Kingdom Hearts discs' programming, which of course means that the Playstation 2 must be able to coordinate some very complicated sets of dynamic code quickly and with fluid grace. I can't say how well LIVE-ACTION characters are portrayed by this system, but I can say that for CARTOON characters the Playstation 2 delivers everything I could've asked for. On the critical side, I think I should say that I've experienced some camera control frustrations in the games I've played, but they were by no means crippling, and I don't know if they persist throughout most games the PS2 supports. I currently have no desire to "upgrade" to a more modern system, as I'm having all the fun I want with my games and standard DVD's on the Playstation 2, and I see no real need as a cartoon and Disney fan to spend the extra money on a newer system with extra features (like newer games and Blueray compatibility) that don't really apply that much to what I like. Other gamers will, of course, want to look around to find something that meets their own personal preferences.Read full review
Although there is a lot to love about the big PS2 (hard drive bay, a little more sturdy), the PS2 slim model does have some advantages: 1) they are much smaller, take up a lot less space around the entertainment center, 2) built-in networking (don't have to purchase a separate device like the fat PS2 requires), and 3) they don't have the slider tray to mess with - you just push the button and the lid gives you instant access to remove or insert a game. In summary, although you give up the HDD bay, it is a fair exchange for the other positive features. Much smaller than the PS3, and if you use a component cable for HDTVs, it makes your old games look like PS3 quality. Some that I noticed the most improvement were Soul Calibur and most any of the newer PS2 releases. For that matter, even the old PS1 games seem to have better visuals with the component cable. Sony was really thinking about the future with that capability. I would recommend holding on to the PS2 a little longer, as it hasn't rode off into the sunset yet.Read full review
Blue layered discs didn't play in console. One controller with circular key not working. Sent extra cords I don't need and now stuck with them. Was given a YouTube video to try and fix it myself and sell never offered any type of small credit. In the end I had fixed the unit only because I fix phones so have an idea so I was disappointed.
