    One of Britpop’s finest efforts

Blur’s magnum opus is a masterpiece of genre blending, witty songwriting, and pop songcraft.

  • A great CD to connect great new indie rock to it's root

This particular Blur album, for me, comes at what I would call a midpoint in their musical growth. Where in the beginning, they were raw, raucous, smartly cynical and often somber; and then toward the end, they are exploratory, practiced musicians, with a great balance of the intelligence and playfulness. This album seems more playful, with a bit of that exploratory nature. London Loves, Tracy Jacks, Magic America, and Jubilee have some sharp-toungued lines, but are generally some of the more playful songs Blur writes. Luckily, the album is balanced with great tracks like End of a Century, This is a Low, and the extremely catchy and fun Girls and Boys. I would recommend this album to anyone who is interested in "indie" type of music. Blur is one of those bands that persevered and became ...

  • This disc proves Blur's talent...

Blur's Brit pop is still remarkable after more than 15 years making music. The band's criticism of modern priorities is as relevant today as it was in 1994. Even their stunts are successful on this disc. Parklife catapulted the band into worldwide stardom for good reason; it's as good as any pop music released from Great Britain - or anywhere else for that matter - during the 1990s. I'm also a big fan of "13", a terrific disc that seems to have been forgotten. Blur deserves more respect and interest from today's pop music fans.

  • My Favorite Blur CD!

This 1994 cd is the album that got me into this great british band(even though I first heard it in 1999)and it is still my favorite blur album. Please don`t judge the band by the corny and overplayed "Song 2"(whoo-hooo tune from Intel commercials, etc.)as they are super talented and not your average modern music group. The cd is a pop/alt. masterpiece and has something for everybody on it!The sound and music are very british but still manage to work(even for the musically-narrow minded).Great beats and lyrics accompinaied with some real vocal and instrumental talents...what is not to like? This is my recommendation for anyone wanting to get into the band or jut wanting feel for their ability and scope. For me this is the quintessential blur album.I`m pretty sure most of you open-minded music ...
