  • HIM Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice

The new album Screamworks from the Finnish rockers HIM was released mid February of 2010. This is their seventh studio recording and though it may be somewhat of a different style from their "older" stuff, it does not fall short by any means. When I first heard that Matt Squire was producing the CD I was nervous to say the least. He has produced cds for many punk/pop bands. But he did a wonderful job I MUST SAY. A pretty good mix of heavy, light, ballads, electric keyboard driven tracks, riffs, heart melting lyrics, and ville's heavy screams throughout the cd. The one thing that was missing that I truly missed as a HIM fan was ville's deep voice, and change in voice tone, like It's all tears from Greatest Love Songs. I have been a fan since Greatest Love Songs Volume 666, and let me tell ...

  • "Scream me a dream."

This album may not have as many songs with the heavy metal guitar; but it does have love. The guitars are not as goth/metal but the songs seem more upbeat. Ville seems to have a new comforting approach to the songs on this album. The acoustic guitar wixed with the electric is very nice. If you liked the single "Heartkiller" you will like the album. Ville uses a lot more historical referance in his lyrics mentioning Saint Katherine and Pompai. The lyrics are very good and so are the mew melodies. The melodies are a bit more pop becuase of the lack of metal guitar. The sound is lighter and less dark heavey metal in most of the songs. Overall this album would be a great additon to any HIM fan.

  • HIM changed, not for better, not for worse.

I have liked nearly every HIM album, besides Venus Doom. I doubt they will ever top Razorblade Romance, which was my favorite, but this CD is a pretty good effort. It's one that grows on you after about five or six listens. It's worth picking up. Track 5 (Disarm Me With Your Loneliness) is my favorite track. Their sound has changed, but it's a more optimistic album than any previous ones.

  • Finally in my hads for a fair price. Love it!

I bought this Cd because I am a huge fan of this band and this CD specially is a piece of art. I can say it's one of my favourites. I like everything about this product and there's nothing I can dislike. You can feel a bit more cheerful and happy (in its own way) tone in this CD, maybe because Ville Valo had recently recovered from his addictions and suicidal thoughts. The quality of the lyrics is awesome, they look more metaphorical and poetic, and not as vane as in other less inspired albums.

  • HIM Screamworks

Its been a while since i listened to this band, and when i picked it up i expected change of course. But i was suprised on how well they do sound like this, its definately different but it works for them and every band has to change their sound one time or another. For meit was pretty good and it fits their style.
