About this product

Product Information

Part foreign affairs discourse, part humor, and part twisted self-help guide, The Geography of Bliss takes the reader from America to Iceland to India in search of happiness, or, in the crabby author's case, moments of un-unhappiness.

Reviews
With one single book, Eric Weiner has flushed Bill Bryson down a proverbial toilet, and I say that lovingly. By turns hilarious and profound, this is the kind of book that could change your life. The relationship between place and contentment is an ineffable one, and Weiner cuts through the fog with a big, powerful light. The Geography of Bliss is no smiley-face emoticon, it's a Winslow Homer., Part travelogue, part personal-discovery memoir and all sustained delight, this wise, witty ramble reads like Paul Theroux channeling David Sedaris on a particularly good day..... Fresh and beguiling., Think Don Quixote with a dark sense of humor and a taste for hashish and you begin to grasp Eric Weiner, the modern knight-errant of this mad, sad, wise, and witty quest across four continents. I won't spoil the fun by telling if his mission succeeds, except to say that happiness is reading a book as entertaining as this., With one single book, Eric Weiner has flushed Bill Bryson down a proverbial toilet, and I say that lovingly. This is an outstanding seller to deal with. Fair prices that are more than reasonable in this economy. The product is in better condition than described, a true value for my money. Packaged and shipped well shows seller has concern for the products he sells to arrive in excellent condition. The seller is friendly and communicates timely with his customers. I highly recommend this seller and would do business again anytime. Thank you.

Excellent seller -- good communication, item exactly as described, reasonably priced, well packed. Seller shipped immediately but the book took over half a month to arrive, due to the carrier used on the first leg, to get the package to USPS.

  • Geography can be blissful

This was a great book! It was a quick and enjoyable read. On the one hand it was an entertaining look at a trip that Mr. Weiner took through 10 different countries. He experienced a lot that I want to go now and do (traveling to Bhutan), and a lot that I never would want to do, but am glad that someone else did it and could tell me about it (eating rotten shark). On the other hand, this book was an intriguing look at how different nations approach happiness, and how a Westerner might at first experience that approach. This book does not profess to be a self-help book for the depressed, but I feel more enlightened after reading it. I saw Mr. Weiner on The Colbert Show (one of my favorites) and just had to get the book, and I am so grateful I did!

  • Buy and it will change your life.

Great book. I bought it for college and it helps a lot. I ended up writing an essay for it and was proud of what I have written.
