The Gibson SG Standard electric guitar is an iconic profile, six-string instrument that has retained its distinctive shape and style as well as its classic sound since Gibson created the original Les Paul version in 1961. The double cutaway body allows access to the lower areas of the neck, and that design has long since become popular on many other guitars. The Gibson SG Standard combines a vintage look and feel with true solid body electric guitar sound in a design that has become a trademark of many rock and roll legends. The Gibson SG Standard electric guitar has a solid mahogany body and neck assembled with Franklin Tightbond 50 adhesive. The headstock features Gibson’s name in mother of pearl and the SG Holly logo. Both pickups are '57 Classic Humbucker Alnico or single-coil Shimmer pickups with coil splitting. Both pickup options feature pickups positioned at the neck and the bridge. A Mortise and Tenon neck fit joint add strength and solid resonance to the guitar. Also standard is a min-ETune configuration that pairs the tuner with vintage-style buttons and chrome-plated tuning knobs. The min-ETune is a battery-powered tuning device that is installed on the back of the headstock and robotically adjust string tension to perfectly tune the guitar to various settings at the touch of a button. Electronic tuners, such as this, eliminate the down time of manual tuning so that spontaneous ideas and inspiration can be quickly translated into musical reality. Potentiometers consist of two push/pull volume controls, two tone controls, and a three-way toggle switch with a white plastic tip. The output jack is a 1/4-inch mono line instrument port to connect the guitar to a mixer or amp. The Gibson SG Standard electric guitar has a Tune-O-Matic chrome bridge, which is known for long sustain. The fretboard is rosewood and houses 22 cryogenically tempered frets and contrasting trapezoid inlays. Many Gibson SG Standard electric guitars feature a special banner inlay at the twelfth fret. In addition, frets are undercut fret over binding, which adds strength and a signature Gibson feel. The guitar has a chrome stop bar-type tailpiece. Also included is a hardshell case with the Gibson logo on the outside and a plush velvet interior. The Gibson SG Standard electric guitar comes with a truss wrench and adjustment literature. My Latest EBay-Auction-Purchased Electric Guitar is Already One of My Favrites
The gorgeous 2013 Gibson SG Standard Model electric Guitar that I just received, having paid the bargain 'BuyIt Now' price on EBay, has blown me away. This guitar is not only beautiful to look at, it's just an absolute PLEASURE to play.....and believe me, I own some of the most awesome, iconic electric guitars ever made. The pickups are - as far as I know - identical to those on m,y 2013 Gibson Les Paul Traditional Model, but the similarity ends there.... The Neck is easier and more comfortable. The body is not only contoured, but also much thinner - and therefore, WEIGHS much, MUCH less than my Traditional LP, which is most Welcome and much appreciated. Mainly, though, I have gained much respect for Gibson's SG design, the original planned replacement for the Les Paul Model! if you are looking for a thick darker tone than your Les Paul here is your answer. I had wanted one but didn't really know how different they sounded. This guitar is made to rock. The 57 Classic pickups are perfect for classic rock or blues. If you want to play metal I recommend putting in different pickups.
