A reliable old "Soldier".
The Victorinox Pioneer is the civilian version of the retired Soldier model the Swiss Army used from 1961 till 2008. There's a reason they used this knife for so long and why the Pioneer is still in production. It is a robust and infinitely useful tool. It is very thin and easy to carry in a pocket. The tool set is minimal but very functional. It includes a 2 3/4" main blade, a bottle opener with large flathead Screwdriver, a can opener with small flathead driver (that will work in most Phillips) and an awl. The scales are aluminum and will provide decent traction and will show little wear even after many years of use. This tool is a timeless classic. I believe everyone would do well to own one of these. To those of us who are knife collectors, no collection could possibly be complete without at least one Pioneer in it. I cannot recommend highly enough.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Best carry knife you can get.
I've carried different models of Swiss Army knives - Victorinox and Wenger - for 40 years and had settled on the Tinker as the best combination of useful tools, size, quality and value. This knife beats it. The tools (blade,etc.) on this knife are actually made from heavier stock and the dimensions are the same as the Tinker except that it is noticeably thinner overall, making it an even better carrier. World renowned for a reason

Put a classic in your pocket
The alox handle and lanyard ring make this knife a staple on my climbing harness. The handle stands up to a lot more abuse than the plastic style. And I can just get a Nuetrino carabiner in the ring. Useful (standard) set of tools on there, same as the 4 tool Swiss Army knife has had forever. I prefer this tool to a Leatherman because of it's sleek un-obtrusive profile.
