A great player in a small package
The LG BP175 player is outstanding! It's really simple to set up. Understand that I have not used it for streaming. I use it to play dvds and blurays. The remote is small but easy to use. Sometimes, the image stops after I resume the movie after a break. I just hit the playback button again and it starts up without a hitch.I'm sure LG can give me a simple explanation and help to resolve the problem. This model is not set to use immediately
This model (BP175) doesn't come with the HDMI cable only a plug and a remote. LG offers other models that do and they call it a bundle. Without the cable you can't connect it to the television. Unless you have a spare one in the house - and I didn't - you will need to buy one. I wish the remote was a bit bigger. Simple Tiny Player that Works!
This player works with all my DVD's and Blurays. Very easy to use. Paired it with 3rd party remote you can find online and it works from farther away than using the original remote (as I've seen at a friends). Use it in the RV hooked directly to the 12V battery source so I can watch Blurays while boondocking. Saves energy normally lost converting 12V to 110V and back to 12V. Great player, just doesn't do all it claims to do.
Only thing it doesn't do is play 3D BluRay. The firmware update was very easy especially with the wifi abilities of the unit. Thought the firmware upgrade would solve the 3D BluRay issue, but it didn't. Love the low profile, sleek design. So Far so good.
I bought a small RCA TV with a built in DVD player and it is garbage. The TV is great but the DVD player is absolute garbage. My children wanted me to get a blu ray anyway so when I went to look online for the reviews (which I always look at before I buy anything) were horrible except for yours so I took a chance . I have watched 3 movies in a row and no problems so far ! Better Than I Expected
LG seems like a humble little company so I wasn't expecting much. But this unit has features I didn't even know existed and works perfectly. It automatically detects which DVDs are anamorphic widescreen and which are 4:3 and adjusts giving you perfect picture (not distorted one way or the other) every time. It has a 5-level brightness control (and several color and contrast controls) so you can boost the signal before the image ever gets to your TV or projector. It plays every kind of blu ray and DVD I have without problems and never goes to blue screen/"signal not found" when it's loading a new disc or going to disc menu.
