    Nice unit for wheeling trips!

    I use this unit primarily for off road trips. I wheel in the mid-atlantic region where trails are tight and windy so you often don't have line-of-sight with others in your group, but in a line of 10 or 12 vehicles I can still reach all of them at mostly any time in the trip. I loaded this with Energizer rechargeable AA's. The unit can charge batteries, but while plugged into my DC plug in my Jeep I noticed the green charge light on the unit didn't light. It did seem, however, to charge the batteries within the unit. I can leave the unit powered on for a full 6 or 7 hours of wheeling and the batteries lose little if any charge so it's very efficient. Important note, it seems the unit will only charge when plugged in. I couldn't plug it in to charge and also turn it on for use.

    OLD SCHOOL FUN!

    Third times a charm! Posting a review that is! For some reason my server froze up twice while trying to post a review. The units are fine and once I add a mobile antenna I believe they will have a much better range. The units are well made and feel sturdy. These are well made hand held CB walkie talkies with NOAA weather. If you want to extend the range add a BNC-COAX connector to add a magnetic mount or other external antenna to your car or add an external base antenna.at home In the car your range will be extremely limited as cars are way more insulated than they were in the CB heyday of the ‘70’s or 80s and everyone knows the stock “rubber-duckie” antennas That come on many hand held radios have extremely limited range. BEST USES: Job site short range outdoor communication. ...
