All I needed in one volume
In this volume the author quotes the story of Paul's life directly from scripture, so you don't need your open Bible beside it to verify the material. In between the direct quotations from Paul's writings and the material on Paul from Luke's ACTS OF THE APOSTLES, MacArthur adds helpful commentary regarding customs / colloquialisms Paul refers to, comments regarding the current political climate, or background Jewish details that any of the first readers would innately be aware of. For the author of the third of the New Testament, all these accounts are valid and useful in understanding the purpose of his role. One can read and understand what his letters were about. Writings in this book are so easy to follow and terminology is simple and appropriate.
