Charge-it has worked well in my batterie...
Charge-it has worked well in my batteries in the past. In olden times, there was a nozzle included, that restricted the flow of the product so you could easily measure by the markings on the side how much you were putting in each battery cell. Now you have to be be creative. I recommend punching a hole in the cap (after removing it) with a very small screwdriver...I used the smallest one on my Leatherman, a small Philips might be ideal. Then you can dispense the stuff without spilling a bunch and being able to see how much you're putting in.Charge-it has worked well in my batteries in the past. I am not completely sure how, or even if this stuff works. The claim is that adding Charge-It to a new battery "will help keep the metal plates from leading up or sulfating as the chemical reduces this sulfating", or something like that and by eliminating the sulfation it will increase your battery life. All i can say is that I used the Charge-It on my last two batteries and they both lasted a long time, the first one lasted 5 years (a battery from the auto parts, a 4 year warranty battery). The one I just replaced died during a heat wave, and I might have been able to recharge it and get another few months of battery life; but I didn't bother with all that, especially since the battery was 7 years old. The day after I got the new one, i put this additive in. Since i knew the battery ... I am not completely sure how, or even if this stuff works. Since i knew the battery would be low on water (I used to work for a government fleet, changed hundreds of batteries and every one I ever installed was low on water, this battery was no different). Anyway once I added the Charge-It to the cells I topped them up with distilled and did a cursory test of the alternator (hooking up a multimeter) since the alt is still putting out 14 volts i'm reasonably sure it wasn't the alternator that made the battery go dead but age, and heat. Anyway if you add Charge-It CH-77 to your (new) battery I believe, but can't prove, that you might add a year or two to your battery's life. I don't know if it has any effect at revitalizing old or dead batteries like they claim, since i never tried that (and it seems rather unlikely to work anyway). But if i were going to try, I'd add the Charge-It, top up the cells with water (I can't tell you how many cars I have jumped, hundreds probably, that had their batteries low on water and that was certainly a contributing factor in their early demise). Then I'd put the battery on a slow charge overnight (to give the additive a chance to work). After that I'd definitely test the specific gravity of the cells plus do a load test too. If any cells failed I'd replace the battery, additive or not. But like I said I've only ever added it to new batteries! And when used this way the Charge-It has worked for me twice (probably), so there's that.
