NOT Squirrel Resistant But What Is
I have had a dozen of these in the last few years until either the bottom eventually rusts out OR the squirrels break off the metal tabs on the lid chewing on them repeatedly to get into it. My big fox squirrels just hang on it and dig the food out of the ports and chew on it until they eventually break the tabs. The squirrel resistance at my house that allows these to hang in there a little longer is my dog Brittnie. They know when she's out and they stay up in the woods and bark at her. When I'm at work though it's open season, oh well. The main thing I like about this feeder is that most of my sunflower eaters prefer to HANG onto the grating and eat other than perching and it does hold a nice amount of feed so I only have to fill them once a day if the squirrels don't visit. (I have three going at all times plus a mixed seed feeder.) It isn't too expensive either for something so expendable.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Not Squirrel resistant at all
Due to proximity of plastic tube squirrels are able to reach right in and chew through plastic feed opening widening them and destroying the tube and allowing seed to spill out to the ground in a torrent. The cage is to close to the plastic tube and the plastic tube is not durable enough to deter squirrels.. Real waste of money and poor design..Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Be careful
The feeder is fine, a good value, one caveat - the loops on mine that are attached to the cage that hold the hanger were a little bent out of shape perhaps due to rough handling during shipping. The metal outlives the plastic.
This is a good product. The metal-work holds up well. I have had a previous model for years. I believe the company should offer replacements for the plastic seed tubes. My older one turned yellow and broke. I tried to buy a replacement. They claim there is no market for the plastic seed tubes and so they do not offer them, but many people, like myself, want them. Birds love this feeder!
Two squirrels have been raiding my old bird feeder by chewing through the plastic perches. On this feeder the plastic is protected by the wire cage. The only way they can steal bird seed is to hang onto the wire and swing on the feeder so the seeds spill out. I guess they think this is too much work. They have left the seeds to the birds. Sturdy feeder but not squirrel proof
This is a study feeder and easy to use. However, it is definitely not squirrel proof. To discourage the squirrels from cleaning it out, we are using Cole's Bh05 Blazing Hot Blend Bird Seed.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
