I have nothing but thumb up for this radio

Grundig YB is an very good radio and lasts a long time . I had a Grundig YB 305 for over 30 years and it recently broke down . So i bought this ones . The sound quality is slightly better than similar radio in its class . Plus the reception on AM/FM is quite good in all aspects .

  • Yacht Boy 400 PE Review

I purchased this to replace my YB400, which I loaned out, and it was never returned. These are great radios, fairly easy to use, and are good quality. They really pick up stations with an externally mounted antenna. Your reception varies depending on atmospheric conditions. You have to make sure to have a list of shortwave frequencies to try.

  • Did not notice the missing 2 top sections of the whip antenna, but a piece of electrical tape renders the top usable again, works according to its age

Did not notice the missing 2 top sections of the whip antenna, but a piece of electrical tape renders the top usable again, works according to its age, nothing major, thanks.

  • The Grundig YB400 a good travel radio

The Grundig YB400 and the slightly more recent YB400pe are very good portable shortwave receivers, offering strong reception on longwave, a m broadcast, f m, and shortwave bands. The owner's manual and the controls are quite intuitive. The learning curve is not long or steep as it is with many recent C Crane, Eton, Sangeaen, and Tecsun models with long menu trees and multiple functions for each key. Sideband reception is stable enough to provide rock-solid voice and morse code reception. In the wee hours of the morning it picked up broadcasts from New Zealand and the Asian beam of the BBC World Service without effort, in spite of the fact that these were aimed away from North America and aimed toward local audiences. If one doesn't mind a minor bruise on the case, these sets may sometimes ...

  • Big sound and great reception in a small package

Nice portable radio that gets several bands. I picked this up based on several internet recommendations. It's a little bigger than a pocket radio, but small enough to pack around. Uses AA batteries, a plus. Only downside is that it takes 6 of them, but if you get rechargeables, you are good to go, or plug it in. Solid construction, great reception and the sound is nice and clear at all volumes.
