These saws are a great deal if you're handy with tools. (If you're not you shouldn't be using one anyway ;-) Bought two and had both of them up and running in about and hour, partly because they are "dry shipped" which is NOT the same as the procedure that goes on for OEM saws. One was a bit harder to get cranking than the other, guessing it has more hours on it as the plug was in bad shape. Once that was dealt with it was just a couple of minutes and it was singin out loud, a little tuner was good for both of them. These are light-weight, have great vibe dampers, and make terrific saws for trimming and cleaning up winters dead-falls, downed limbs, etc. Definately easier to use than my 26 pound Pro-Mac from the 80's! Only place these will come up short is if you need to buck-up 24 logger cords of fire wood, (72 face cords) for that you would want something a LOT bigger. Be Safe cutting, use the right saw for the job!Read full review

3714 Ryobi Chainsaw These are decent little saws based on the Redmax GZ 4000. But the muffler has the Cat pack installed for EPA problems. This little saw is vary lean on the fuel mixture and will not last as long as it should because of the muffler.Over all they are a fair little saw for the home owner.Put a good chain on the saw you would be better satisfied.

Probably one of the best bangs for the buck I've spent on Ebay. Saw looks brand new, started right up, light and easy to use for smaller trees and limbing branches rather than using my larger saw with 20 inch bar. Have 5 heavily wooded acres to fire mitigate and this should help reduce fatigue for this rundown old man.

OK, I've been cutting firewood for 30 years! Not anymore, though… And I only own a handful of saws that are larger than 50cc anymore. As I get older, I am leaning towards lighter saws, & With less income available I'm trying to maximize my bang for the buck. This little Ryobi saw is outstanding "for as cheap as it was", & I would have given it five out of five stars, but the really "cheap & chintzy" Chinese bar & chain really take away from the overall quality of the saw. The one saving grace is this: I got it for so cheap, that it wasn't a major expense to upgrade to a much higher quality bar & chain. Even just moving up to a much nicer quality Oregon chain really makes a big difference in its cutting ability. I won't comment on the bar I replaced it with, since it was an item I rob from an existing saw. Be sure to use the best gas & oil mix you can… Ethanol free if you can get it… And I doubt you'll find any fault with the saw. The only other gripe have is this: The cover doesn't press down on the air filter very well, so a small rubber washer was required to be placed between the top of the air filter and the bottom of the cover.Read full review

I wanted a chainsaw, but balked at the price of a new one. This reconditioned Ryobi was delivered to my door for $80 ! I attached the bar, put chain on (not difficult, even for a chainsaw novice like me), topped the bar oil, fueled it (2 stroke), primed it and pulled on the starter cord. Vroom! First pull! Got busy on the yard work. Excellent little chainsaw...so much better than electric.
