For the money, these tripods are really great. I read many reviews for newer, more modern looking tripods, and many of them were reviewed as not being completely stable. Often, they were very short - averaging 5 feet tall. For a really stable tripod, it seemed like I would be spending at least $300 for a well built professional grade tripod. I checked out a friend's Bogen Manfrotto 3011, and was surprised at how simple, yet stable it was. I bought one, then bought a nice Manfrotto fluid video head for it, and I find it to be very stable, and tall enough to get over most people's heads when needed (extends to 6 feet high without the head and camera on it).

This is like a Mercedes-Benz among cars - the best you can get in tripod market. Overall quality and stability of the structure made me consider purchasing a Manfrotto tripod. The only problem might be the weight, however, when you have at least a $3000 camera with a $1000 lens on it, you don't want to place it on a cheap, not sturdy tripod. Therefore, this is definitely one of the best tripod you can get.
This is a great addition to the beach house. The tripod is stable enough to accurately control the mounted scope that we use for viewing all the local wildlife with ease.

This tripod pairs-up with the exact same model I purchased about 30 years ago. It’s marvelously stable and compact. Highly recommended.
