    Classic reels made in England..you won't find a better reel for the price

    These reels were made in England and do have "sister" spools by other bfr or other English made reels. The battenkill disc drag is the forefather to the modern access reels and battenkill of the 90s.you can get this reel on ebay or a used fly shop for less than $100 like I did (with a spare spool) It will fish for you for the next 20 years..why spend $200+ on a new reel alone when you can rig 2 or even 3 spools for your back up rod or larger fish . I sold a 5/6 w spare spool and picked up a 7/8 w 2 spare spools...we all have a "favorite" rod and reel just for our trout..here is your back-up on a budget and will fish just as good as new if not better. If your new to disc/gear drag vs click and pawl this is a great reel to learn on as its lower drag setting feels like a click and ...
