This game has NO story mode, NO movies or INTERESTING secrets/unlockables. It DOES have dogfights between star ships. It does have some strategy and a few elements that make it somewhat entertaining for a little while. If you want story mode then buy ST: Encounters - as it has story mode and no lame boardgame type garbage play. The problem is that there is only one map, you start in the same place, and there is no story mode leaving zero motivation to complete the game. Once you complete the game you basically get a "You conquered the Universe" then it saves the game and unlocks a ship or planet for use in SKIRMISH mode- a useless mode for this game as it's really not that exciting or fun at all (imo) to battle seven star ships against some other star ships. No endings. NO cool weapons at ALL. NO upgrades or designing ships, no freedom of crew. (Each race has only THREE admirals- what if I want one that is actually not a dork?) I've been a hardcore gamer for twenty years and this and Star Trek: Encounters play and look graphically like they were made in 1996 for PS1 or even like they were adapted and 'enhanced' from a super nintendo version. If you want dogfights, get Rebel Assault, if you want a sci-fi story, get a good game like Run Like Hell or even Psi-Ops. If you're a 'Trekkie' buy this only on two conditions- if you are so hardcore you don't care how lame it is, as long as it has that gay triangle logo, OR if you are prepared to become dis-enchanted with the entire Star Trek universe entirely.Read full review
Play this game on my Play Station 3. Awesome experience visually and strategically as it is very challenging (in a good way) as you control a races economy and research. If that isn't enough important battles for control of key planets allows you to settle it tactically through a ship-ship arcade sequence or by a simulated approach where you watch the action resolved by the computer. Torpedoes, phasers, star base assaults, its all here. You can even use research to deploy super weapons like the Genesis Device, crippling system defenses as well as opponent's star bases and ships. Special unlocks include additional races for the skirmish modes: Borg, more Federation ships, planets from the movies and TV series, etc. Highly recommend this game for those fans disappointed with past offerings.Read full review
I have played other Star Trek games for PS2 and they were not very good but I found Star Trek Conquest far better than the others. It took a about 5 to 10 min. to get accustom to how the controls worked but then it was no problem. I reccommend playing the game on the hard setting to make it more challenging.
Any tricky would love this strategy game. Best Star Trek purchase I've ever made. The graphics are good, it immolates the voices of the old characters perfectly. When it comes to Star Trek, this is the best.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
great game could be better in some ways but overall good like for example saying the defiant ship is weak is crazy its one of the most powerful starships out there
Works great

I like this game very much. It was different than other star trek games I have played. It can be very challenging when on hard level. It isnt cannon for sure, but I would recommend it and have enjoyed very much.
Game plays well, I like the ability to do ship to ship combat as well as the instant combat version. I would reccomend this game. I will say some of it plays to simple.
