    BRAIN POWER

This as a totally engaging film starring the naturally beautiful Scarlett Johansson as Lucy and wonderful Morgan Freeman (#1 beekeeper!) as the thoughtful academic. Luc Besson, one of my very favorite directors (favorite flick The Professional) does a great job presenting the question of what would happen to a human being with increased brain power of 100% instead of the 10% most scientists say we use. It's a roller coaster ride of great special effects, easy to understand plot, facts based on science and good acting that will keep you entertained as well as educated. Lots of food for thought...

    overrated

I love SF films, and action but this movie is OK, that's it. Not terrible, but not memorable in any particular way. The writing. acting and production are adequate. As a matter of fact I'd seen this film years ago and forgotten all about it haha Anyway, worth a look, maybe.

  • Who woulda thunk it !

My adult daughter did not particularly like this movie. That being said, I loved it. The premise is lever and the acting is way above average. Scarlette Johanson was superb in her role.. They do not give out Academy Awards for this kind of role.. but they should. Morgan Freeman was also spot on in his role.. although I found the science to be more than a little lacking. In my book Darwinism is an unproven theory. Even Charles Darwin had his doubts.. , but, in academic circles today it is taught as fact with religious fervor.

  • I likes it.

As with various other movies I like, here the premise is the most interesting part. The story, attempting to breath life into the premise, is, simply a fiction. And, not a bad fiction, at that. But a fiction none the less with the point being that the story is limited to the authors vision, insights, and imagination. Somehow I always imagine a better, deeper, more insightful exploration of the implications of a profound premise. But, if my assumptions are correct, to be commercially successful, a movie needs its portion of action, its portion of good vs evil, and, most importantly, it can't get too "high brow". In this case the heroine becomes a super human, with incredible fighting skills, slaughtering the bad guys. She does have some interesting technology skills also. I ...

  • Lucy

Lucy (Scarlett johansson) isn't to bright. But after finding out she is body packing a nee synthetic drug. She is told where to go. She is kidnapped. Beaten and kicked. The bag tears open and the drug spills into her blood stream. Morgan freeman is a scientist explaining the human capacity of how much of your brain is used. Throughout the film we see Lucy, whose brain capacity is growing. Until the climatic ending, that will leave you in that special place of wonderment. Great film.
