Good points: Price, 6w power, lots of functions, charger is multivoltage. Bought this with thought that with DSC it could function as PLB. Haven't used much yet, just a day to prove it's working ok - here are my first thoughts: Bulky form that doesn't fit comfortably in the hand. Light weight and plastic doesn't give quality feel. But I guess these are dissadvantages of floating units. Makes it less likely to be suitable as PLB. Need at least a suitable pouch to carry it and perhaps the external microphone. Belt clip fitting feels a bit insecure and strap attaches to this rather than radio itself. Supplied to Europe with US plug on charger, but charger is multivoltage so just needs a plug adaptor. GPS bearing for magnetic north didn't work - shows 0deg, works when set toon true north. Doesn't have magnetic variation for my zone.Read full review

I spend time every day reading the manual, and learning more about the functions. I’ve loaded the MMIS, learned to program the course I want in the GPS, and figured out how to change power settings. I just need to master the scanning function and I’ll be even more ready to hit the water. This is a good radio, and, at less than $200, is a superior value. Buy it.

I ordered the exact same radio in November from Ebay and it was also used, came with everything as new: battery pack and all accessories including chargers for 89.00. Paid 85.00 for this one and it came with just the radio shell: no battery or accessories: expected more!
