Low Budget.. The Kinks
I loved it when I bought it in vinyl 30 yrs ago.. There is just NO substitute for that good old fashioned rock'n roll backbeat and tunes. Singers nowadays just want to exercise their voices , going up and down and all around, but never just holding the ONE note. The Kinks have ALWAYs been a fave of mine, and I have been playing it over and over since recieved. What I find amusing is that it was pertinent in it's subject 30 yrs ago, and it STILL is pertinent about our times.. Low Budget describes our life as it is now.. The Song, "Low Budget" describes our life today.. and "A Gallon of Gas" describes our issues today!! GREAT CD!! LOve it!! I would say that the Kinks were VASTLY underrated in their own time, as good as the Rolling Stones, or (yes, I dare!) The Beatles.. Their music has ... Low Budget is still First Class, Maybe even BEST Kinks
This is in my opinion the best Kinks. Clean, tight and shows their true musicianship. Listen to the harmonies, the guitar licks, the piano. Vocals are tight, lyrics quick and the entire CD/Albums is just simply fun to listen to. Throw this in with Dave Edmunds (Repeat When Necessary) and maybe Nick Lowe (Labour of Lust) and you have some of the very best music of this era. On a side note: Listen to the lyrics of the political times and state of the world in this CD. It could be re-released today and the new generation would never know it was 30 years old.This is in my opinion the best Kinks. Clean, tight and shows their true musicianship.
