When I first received the item I was pleased to see that it was in excellent condition. No blemishes or scratches. Once I became familiar with how to use the Samsung Dex Station I was very impressed with how well it performs. I highly recommend that anyone that intends to use the Samsung Dex Station with an external hard drive get a powered USB 3.0 hub. I think Samsung dropped the ball on this feature. It was nice to see two USB ports but Samsung should have made them 3.0 ports and should have designed the station with powered USB ports. Other than that I am quite happy with my purchase. As a side note when you connect the station to your phone you will still be able to switch between HDMI audio and phone audio you will just lose the ability to use the audio jack. This did not bother me since I use HDMI audio. I did need to change some settings so that I could hear through my HDMI. Audio did not come through HDMI output the first time I plugged in my phone.Read full review

It was advertised to have wireless charging & working compatibility with Galaxy S8 & above devices/phones. That's not the case... product could not consistently synch with S9Note or S10e for DeX mode. Wireless charging - NO. Fast charging - yes. For some reason, S9 DeX mode constantly halted due to usb error. S10e also saw limited, stuttering connectivity. Separately purchased 36W pd didn't help either; phones wouldn't charge and hdmi recognition for DeX failed to initiate. I use it as a stand when I connect phones to hdmi-USB hub I bought elsewhere. Shameful and disappointing this device has such stunted and limited functionality. If it worked half as well as it looked, it'd be spectacular. Unfortunately that wasn't the case for me. Only useful for fast charging, that's about it, regrettably. Read full review

With the cost of a Note 8 at $900+ I told my self I wanted to push the limits of this phone. I had switched from the note 4 to the note 8 so I was use to samsung products. As for the dex station very portable samsung product, I carry it to work from home and back with ease. If you have a wireless mouse and keyboard usb plug to run both the mouse and keyboard than you have a plus due to the fact that you have freed an extra port, if not but do have a seperate mouse and keyboard usb plug than the dex station will accomodate both plugs while having a hdmi port to connect to a monitor. The dex station uses the phones wifi capabilities to access the internet, but you can also connect a ethernet line from the dex to a modem/router to access the internet. One of the best feature I do like is that it also charges your phone while on the dock. To me it seems like it charges faster than the samsung wireless charger, and faster than connecting the type c charger to the phone. As for the operations for dex you can use all your apps from the phone to do work or even play games. I my self was able to use Microsoft Word to do work from the dex station. Over all the dex station can give the flexabilty to provide the user with accessing materials from the phone to a monitor to conduct work, daily activities, shop, or just even surf the net. I am pleased to have purchased the dex station to access some of the best features of the Note 8. It complements each other very well.Read full review

Good product. Makes mirroring a Samsung device simple. After connecting to your TV or monitor, simply drop your phone in and you'll be watching movies in no time. The great thing is you can mirror and hotspot at the same time. The 2 USB ports make it easy to transfer files and backup photos. My only complaint is the data plug is not long enough to use use when my phone is in its case.

That is the idea and to a great extent it works well. Samsung has made it very simple to use, just plug in your S8 or S8+ and within a few seconds your phone is now a full blown computer. Its speed is excellent and many of the software packages spring to a full screen without any difficulty. Those that do not. simply show up as a large phone on your screen. With apps available from the app store you can get many other apps to go to full screen (DEX MAX for example). Although you could save your files locally on your phone it is just as easy to save them to the cloud so you do not need a large amount of storage space on the phone. For us older folks this device certainly makes it a lot easier to use those apps that require a lot of typing or just wanting to see the larger print while reading articles. You can use the browser that comes with the phone or one of your choosing such as Google. However some are still just larger phone formats. There is an option in Google, for example, to request a site be the full site, not the mobile one and mostly that will work. Over all I would say this is a great start and someday will deserve a 5 star, but that day of a 5 star review is still a ways off. With both Google, and now Samsung, encouraging app creators to allow their apps to be scaled to full screen, I doubt it will be very long until it is a much better and useful product.Read full review
