    Maybe it's better as a dimmer

    As a motor speed controller it only functions from the mid point of the dial range making it only marginally useful. I'm guessing it was designer to be a bulb dimmer not a motor controller.

    Gets too hot if you limit the current going to a motor too much. I am using it on a leaf blower and am happy with its performance.
