I liked the realistic depiction about what would happen if a place without law or God was actually built. The game is kind of gory, which can be a bonus or negative. The settings although familiar and lost some of it's sheen is still interesting. The story is interesting, and allowed the setting of rapture to end. Being a christian the religious brainwashing was offensive, but they didn't hold any punches from humanistic views of the world as well so they seemed equally biased, I can at least respect that(I don't claim to have any insight to the beliefs and views of the people and the company that made Bioshock 2). Not as challenging as first person shooters go, and the all too common fight scenes can become stale. Weapon selection was fun and varied, same as the dual-wielding weapons and power. Weapon upgrades were interesting, but similar effects and many were obsolete compared to others. Finally, overall they did a good job, many jaded reviews almost prevented me from at least trying this game, but it was enjoyable none-the-less and worth buying, maybe not worth 60 dollars but at least worth buying used or when a newer copy is cheaper.Read full review
Liked the original, this one has similar game play and a good story line. Graphics are visually stunning. Although the plasmids are the same, the non-elemental ones give better choices because of upgraded strenths. Cyclone allows double dipping by infusing the cyclone trap with any other plasmid. Swarm 3 is much more powerful than in the original, etc. Don't like that the keys are defaulted different from the original.
Welcome back to the world of rapture. The setting: Bioshock 2 like bioshock takes place in the underworld city of rapture. In bio 2 you play as a big daddy, trying to find your lost little sister. Improvements: Bioshock 2 has many new features to offer over its predecessor. You can now wield a plasmid and weapon at the same time. Big daddy battles and Big sister battles. Multiplayer. New hacking system. melee attack. Improved plasmids. Things that stayed the same: Graphics. Sound. Overall game play. The use of the unreal 3 engine. Cons: Nothing worth noting. To sum it up: Bio 2 is basically an improved bio 1, you could almost think of it as an expansion pack. Graphics 9/10 Sound 9/10 Game play 9/10 Over all 9/10 Games that are still worth playing in 2010: Borderlands Mass effect 2 bioshock fallout 3 Knights of the old republic Dragon age origins *This game is rated M* *The pc version can only be installed 15 times without customer support* *This game is also available on the ps3 and the 360* *Multiple endings depend upon your in game decisions*Read full review
I hate spoilers, so this is certainly not one. The graphics, music, and imagery are spectacular. It's like being a part of a Tim Burton movie, only with the added element of extreme gore and a chilling amount of playful terror. I am only a few hours in to the game, but I am pleasantly addicted to it. This sequel retained enough of the original BIOSHOCK (such as plasmids, health-packs, splicers, the camera, etc.) to be familiar, but the superior imagery, new hacking methods, and new weapons easily make this game all it's own. From what I can tell, you do not play the same character as in the original game, and you venture to enough new places in Rapture for the scenery to only seem vaguely familiar. If you have never played the first BIOSHOCK, go buy it! It's unique style and GREAT graphics make it just as playable years after it's release. I'm sure after beating it, you will agree that the sequel is worth owning. Even if you have no intention of going back to the first story, the sequel is a little complex, but it seems as though much of the dialog is there to help people "catch up". ***Wonder if you'd agree with me? For reference purposes only, I also liked playing Fallout 3, Mass Effect 1 & 2, Assassin's Creed 1 & 2, Red Faction: Guerrilla, The Saboteur, Dead Space, Far Cry 2, and Borderlands.***Read full review
THIS IS A GREAT FIRST SHOOTER GAME. A SEQUEAL TO BIOSHOCK THE GAMEPLAY HAS BEEN UPDATED AND IMPROVED. USE OF PLASMIDS, WEAPONS, AND HACKING ARE MUCH SMOOTHER. BEAWRE HOWEVER THAT YOU MUST OPEN A WINDOWS LIVE ACCOUNT, WHICH IS FREE, IN ORDER FOR THE GAME TO SAVE AND WORK CORRECTLY EVEN IN SINGLE PLAYER. THIS MAKES INSTALLATION A PAIN AND TIME CONSUMING.
