Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich BWL - Bank, Boerse, Versicherung, Note: 1,3, Universitat Potsdam, 116 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Banken- und Boersenlandschaft Europas hat sich in den vergangenen 10 Jahren erheblich verandert. Technologischer Wandel, die Harmonisierung des Rechtsrahmens innerhalb der EU und die Einfuhrung des Euro haben zu einer Intensivierung des Wettbewerbs zwischen Banken aber auch Boersen beigetragen und eine Konsolidierung innerhalb des Finanzsektors eingeleitet. Es folgte eine Welle von feindlichen UEbernahmen, Fusionen und Kooperationen zwischen Marktteilnehmern die bis heute anhalt. Gleichzeitig hat sich 2004 der Wirtschaftsraum der EU mit dem Beitritt zehn neuer, vor allem osteuropaischer Staaten enorm vergroessert. Dieser schlagartige Zuwachs des EU-Binnenmarktes erzeugt weitere Wettbewerbsimpulse, da durch die Europapass-Regelung grenzuberschreitende Dienstleistungen im Finanzdienstleistungsbereich vereinfacht werden. Dadurch koennen z.B. westeuropaische Banken mit heimischer Bankenlizenz auch im osteuropaischen Markt ohne zusatzliche Lizenzbeantragung tatig werden. In der Folge entsteht ein noch groesserer Wettbewerbsdruck, der sich insbesondere an Orten auswirkt, an denen eine Vielzahl von Finanzmarktteilnehmern vertreten sind. In diesem Zusammenhang wird oftmals auch von einem Wettbewerb der Finanzplatze gesprochen, wobei der Begriff des Finanzplatzes haufig in unterschiedlichem Kontext und zugleich nicht einheitlich in Publikums- und Fachmedien verwendet wird. Diesbezuglich soll diese Arbeit zunachst einen Beitrag zur Begriffbestimmung leisten, indem der Finanzplatz nach verschiedenen Kriterien abgegrenzt wird, um schliesslich eine fur diese Arbeit gultige Begriffsverwendung zu bestimmen. Ziel dieser Arbeit jedoch ist es, Chancen fur ausgewahlte Finanzplatze West- und Osteuropas zu identifizieren, um schliesslich moegliche Strategien zu formulieren, mit denen diese Finanzplatze im europaischen
