Gameplay is designed to recreate the full hunting experience, requiring sense, skill, and sportsmanship. Authenticity is enhanced by accoutrements such as maps, vehicles, and Cabela's brand hunting gear. The game's two career programs let hunters demonstrate their talents in a series of competitions for deer, elk, and other prey, or help the Department of Natural Resources to keep the wolf and bear population in check. A special X-Ray Mode even allows the virtual hunter to see through to the internal organs of his or her target, to line up the best shot for a quick, clean kill. Adjustable skill settings help provide a worthy challenge for players of varied experience.
