Product Information

Watch a video The new Kay Scarpetta novel from the world's #1 bestselling crime writer. "When it comes to the forensic sciences, nobody can touch Cornwell." - The New York Times Book Review Port Mortuary , the title of Patricia Cornwell's eighteenth Scarpetta novel, is literally a port for the dead. In this fast-paced story, a treacherous path from Scarpetta's past merges with the high- tech highway she now finds herself on. We travel back to the beginning of her professional career, when she accepted a scholarship from the Air Force to pay off her medical school debt. Now, more than twenty years and many career successes later, her secret military ties have drawn her to Dover Air Force Base, where she has been immersed in a training fellowship. As the chief of the new Cambridge Forensic Center in Massachusetts, a joint venture of the state and federal governments, MIT and Harvard, Scarpetta is confronted with a case that could shut down her new facility and ruin her personally and professionally.

Book was in very good condition as described. The only thing I wasn’t impressed by that the book was not mailed in a bubble mailer. It was mailed in a regular plastic wrap mailer bag. The plastic mailer bag was busted open in shipping and my books corner was bent up. The price was fantastic. The shipping time was great. I would definitely buy from the seller again, but I would ask them in advance to ship in a bubble mailer.

Book is great no marking, only bad thing spine is broken by previous owner use, but still valuable, description should have said: "good"! Thank you very much! Seller is great fast shipping and prices, my positive feedback!

  • SCARPETTA IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER!

It's here.....the latest installment of the life of Patricia Cornwell's best character, Kay Scarpetta. Port Mortuary is the 18th novel featuring our beloved Kay and her close associates, Benton, niece Lucy and Marino. The book is hard to put down, and you keep turning the pages to find out more, and yet when you immerse yourself in Kay's world, you want to stay and follow the day to day cases in her life. We enter Scarpetta's world in a very intimate way, the book is told from her point of view. The sights, smells, fears and reactions are all hers, showing an even deeper and darker world of thoughts than I thought existed for her. The book brings her back to her early professional career and the dual purpose she has in serving her country. Scarpetta is in my home state of Massachusetts, ...

  • Port Mortuary

I am a huge fan of all Patricia Cornwell. I love her writing style. This book was not quite as riveting as the last but she will always leave you wanting more.

  • Not up to par!!!

This book lacks intrigue. If I want to learn technical terms I'll buy a medical dictionary. Too many of her recent books seem like she wants to show her knowledge in every field and is loosing so much in the translation. I'd prefer fewer references to modern technology and more emphasis on the quality of the theme of the story. Her endings are too abrupt now, as if she has a deadline to meet quickly. I've read every book Cornwell has written but after this book and At Risk and The Front, I doubt I'll be waiting in line to buy her next one.

  • Great book in great shape.

    Completely pleased with my purchase.

Cornwell is my favorite author, I have read all the Scarpetta series books. I find her writing to be interesting. I enjoy borrowing books from libraries but sometimes I can find one I am looking for that is a reasonable price.
