About this product

Product Information

There are about 700 species of cephalopods (cuttlefishes, squids, octopuses and the chambered nautiluses) living throughout the seas of the world, some between the tides, others in the deep ocean, and yet others in the surface waters. Cephalopods are considered to be the most highly evolved marine invertebrates and possess elaborate sense organs, large brains and complex behaviour. This 1996 book examines that behaviour, summarizing field and laboratory data from a wide variety of sources in a comprehensive account of the life of cephalopods in their natural habitats. It surveys the way they find prey and escape predators, how they reproduce, how they learn and how they communicate using complex body patterns. Throughout it emphasizes the gaps in our knowledge in the hope of stimulating more biologists to study these beautiful and fascinating animals.

"For a reader new to the field of cephalopod behavior, and even those who have studied these fascinating creatures for years, this is a valuable information source. It is well written, organized and easy to read..." Jennifer A. Hoar, Quarterly Review of Biology, 'This is an excellent book and can be highly recommended ... It should find its way to the bookshelves of any biologist ... For its content, visual beauty, clarity, and passion - get yourself a copy now!' AOK. Item as described, reasonable condition (as described), excellent price, reasonable packing and shipping time, no problems. Thanks. (Sorry, I don't do star ratings when some are automatic, as it's unfair to buyers to have eBay pre-empt any of the scores. You should complain to eBay, as your star ratings would have been very high.) I can't rate the product until I read it. It's unfair for eBay to require a product rating in order to send feedback! The guys at eBay are heavily into control.
