About this product

Product Information

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is a 2D fighting game by Arc System Works, the studio that created the distinctive Guilty Gear series. As the developer's first 2D fighter developed for high-definition systems, BlazBlue features fast, anime-inspired fighting action, which plays out over detailed, multi-layered backgrounds, with flashy, sometimes psychedelic visual effects for special attacks and big hits. The fighting takes on a certain rhythm, as there is a split second pause after each hit, giving players who can catch on to the cadence a chance to use the brief freezes to time their next move or counterattack. The action is very fast, and without the stuttering pauses, few humans could hope to keep up. Each character has a special "drive" attack move, which is difficult to perform of but devastating if used correctly. The story of the game involves dissent and destruction among a powerful council, known unofficially as "the Library," which controls a great power that once saved humanity, but which now wields its power in protective, some say repressive, ways. The game's developer declared BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger to be the "spiritual successor" to the Guilty Gear series. Its roster of combatants is a rogues' gallery of weird, super-powered, emotionally complicated characters, including vampires and werewolves, and the beat-'em-up action plays out to an unrelenting precision-metal soundtrack by composer Daisuke Ishiwatari.

Initially available to all North American consumers who pre-ordered the game, the Limited Edition of BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger includes a 48-song, two-disc soundtrack and a video disc featuring tutorials and character-specific strategies, and comes in special packaging.

  • Blaz Blue: Calamity Trigger

If you are a fighting fan, and love deep fighters this game is for you. This purchase was made for my friend, but I put my fair share into the game as he did. The extra contents are nice, The tutorials for the characters are done by a familiar voice you might recognize from IGN, she does the same voice over for her mini show on XBL. The artbook is luscious, and highly detailed, and it is definitely one of my favorite Special Editions of a game (It even beats Halo 3 because of quality's sake) The game itself is great, but there is one major flaw in it. It has one of the steepest learning curves I've ever seen, unless your a fighting game veteran you will get pwned online again, and again till you want to take this game back to the store. A word of warning for first time fight gamers.

  • Blazblue is a new great franchise

Ok. A 2D fighter can be tricky for someone who doesn't no anything else than 3D, but it's great nonetheless. Visuals are stunning, animation is awesome and the fact that you have (only) 12 different protagonists is not a burden at all. Everyone has his own moves and personality, therefore you'll be able to find somebody that suits your fighting skills. Let's be honest: you won't be disapointed unless you don't like fighting games. Don't miss out the limited version for everything you get as a bonus. Only bad point: it's technical aspects could draw you away. Score: 8,5 out of 10.

  • Blazblue Review

It comes down to this: buy blazblue! Why? There many reasons, but the main and most important one is basically this: Blazblue is awesome and its a great gaming experience. At a first glance you can tell what this game is about - 2D fighter with 12 characters who carry a weapon in order to destroy the opponents. You might look at this game as the "natural evolution of the Guilty Gear series" (this expression is being used over and over to describe this game), so you can expect great paced combat and lots of combos. Now, in this quick review i'm going to talk about the basic stuff: characters, graphics, gameplay, online and training mode. If you don't usually play fighting games you'll probably think: "training mode? What the heck?", but a good training mode is the lift one needs to get ...

  • One of my favorite fighters of all time!!!

Honestly, there's no way I could describe everything I love about BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger because I would be writing a novella. All you need to know is that this has become one of my favorite fighters of all time and the level of polish and detail this 2D wonder has is amazing. The character designs are excellent, the fighting mechanics are top-notch and there are even extra animated scenes that feature chibi (super adorable) versions of the characters talking about the BlazBlue universe. I know BlazBlue is only targeting a certain type of fighting game fan, but I think the mechanics are cool enough to entertain anyone even remotely interested in the genre. I'm sure that once the community gets its hands on this game, the true test of balancing will begin and issues I might have missed ...
