"There is a big gap between 'concept' books written for preschoolers and nonfiction that requires fluent reading skills. The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library books introduce beginning readers to important basic concepts about the natural world. They provide the critical foundations upon which complex facts and ideas can eventually be build. In addition, The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library shows young readers that books can be entertaining and educational at the same time. This is a wonderful series!" -- Barbara Kiefer, Associate Professor, Reading and Literature Teachers College, Columbia University From the Hardcover edition., "There is a big gap between 'concept' books written for preschoolers and nonfiction that requires fluent reading skills. Children will love the rhyming words in the story. They will try to chime in to remember the words.

  • Don't buy this book!

I bought this book in an effort to find informational books for my daughter that are also entertaining. We have several other books from this serious that are really good. ("Oh, The Things You Can Do That Are Good For You" is one of her favorites!) My daughter was very interested in "There's No Place Like Space" and enjoyed it. However, it is filled with things that propel misconceptions about space/sun/planets. I was constantly having to explain how things really are, contradictory to what the pictures were telling her. Kids have a hard enough time with misconceptions in science as it is...we don't need books like this to add to them! I got rid of this book the day after it came in the mail!

  • Excellent Beginner Resder Solar System Book
