Midway opens the vaults to its classic coin-op library for the release of Arcade Treasures, a compilation of 22 quarter-munching hits dating back to 1981. The library, which includes titles from Williams Entertainment as well as Atari Games, offers a mix of genres. Racing games include RoadBlasters, Super Sprint, Spy Hunter, and Toobin'. Fans of classic shooters will be able to play Defender II (aka Stargate), Robotron: 2084, Blaster, Smash T.V., SiniStar, Vindicators, Gauntlet, and Satan's Hollow. Puzzle games include the medieval Rampart and the tile-sorting action of Klax. 720°, Rampage, Joust, Joust 2, Paperboy, Marble Madness, and SPLAT! round out the list of featured titles. Games are playable with one or two players, and all support analog control as an option. Also included in the compilation are creator and developer interviews as well as game histories.

    Oldies But Goodies and Not Just For Single Players

    Some of the funnest games ever made by Midway are included on this Gamecube disc. The best experience you can have playing it is with two or three other players depending on the game. Three player games include such classics like Super Sprint, Rampage and one of my personal favorites, Rampart which is a competetive strategy-base game similar to Tetris. Gauntlet is the only four-player cooperative game included but of course is a lot of fun to play. Although all the games are multi-player, they can however be played along with the other 22 classic games in single-player mode which includes Paper Boy, Spy Hunter, Defender and many more. This is certainly a must-have for the coin-operated arcade enthusiast and the future fan alike that will no doubt supply countless hours of game play.

    Great nostalgic value

    The games are as much fun to play as ever. There are lots of titles, but my faves Gauntlet and Smash TV play just like they did in arcades on a Wii, if you have the gamecube controllers.
