    This is the Catholic Bible, also contains Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation (Vatican II), chronological survey from 3200BC to 135AD, Old & New Testaments with the Catholic sanctioned books, a modest Bible Dictionary, listing of Jesus' miracles & parables, the 3-year cycle of Readings for Sunday Mass, and very brief Doctrinal Bible Index (concordance). This is a very necessary companion for the requisite Catechism of the Catholic Church. Whenever this is updated with additional cross-references and commentary as a study guide, it will certainly glean an Excellent review! Hello!     Fantastic interpretation of scripture.

    Let me start by saying I'm biased here, I am Catholic. I find the New American Bible written in a way that is both easy to read for today's Christians yet is still written in a reverent manner. It contains many footnotes that help the reader understand the context of what is being written or said, as well as tie together prophecies and foretelling that take place, particularly between the Old Testament and the New. In addition, it is a Catholic Bible and contains a few books not normally found that are beautifully written, particularly, the book of Sirach which is full of wisdom. If you own only one Bible, it should be this version.
