Im no expert but the needle was easy to install and sounds great.
I wasn't sure if my needle was bad, It was, So at this price i decided to take a chance and i'm glad i did. I have enjoyed listening to all my albums that i had bought but hadn't played. It really sounds great to me. My record player is nothing fancy but pretty good and i am very happy I made this purchase.

Performs unexpectedly well, while it works.
Upon receipt of the Pfanstiehl 629-DE, I was pleasantly surprised to find the sound smooth, detailed and fairly free of grit and frequency response abnormalities. Even a bit glassiness present in the original AT stylus was absent. That why it was a disappointment that after a mere 21 days of playing that one of the little "rabbit ear" magnets fell off, rendering the stylus useless. Actually, this is the second time this happened - the first time the diamond tip itself fell off....after playing only one song. I don't know if I'm statistically unfortunate, or if there's a manufacturing defect with the glue Pfanstiehl uses, but obviously I cannot recommend this stylus. Good replacement for the price
This elliptical stylus sounds very good and is priced reasonable. I have modified this stylus to fit on my AT13ea cartridge which uses a slightly different shaped stylus. Just a lot of trimming the plastic. It reproduces sound clearly enough to enjoy. I did notice very slight sibilance up in the high fq, could also be my cartridge as I got it second (or third) hand who knows. The construction of cantilever and needle tip looks very well. It's Pfansthiel and they are Swiss made.This elliptical stylus sounds very good and is priced reasonable. I bought this stylus 3 years ago and mounted it to an AT666 cartridge that was the original one on a used Technics table (with original Technics head shell) I'd bought on-line. The sound this produces is the best I've heard from many generic and factory stylus/cartridge combinations. It rivals my AT100E and is only slightly inferior to my AT120E and AT440 MLB carts, mostly since their nude styli will produce more overall detail. The 629-DE I bought was packaged as a Pfanstiehl but the EVG ones may be the same thing, just with different packaging. The specs say it's a .2 by .7 mil elliptical, which should make it better then a .3 x .7 or a .4 x.7 stylus tip anyway. It's just a bonded (non-nude) stylus but has great presentation. It pulls the soundstage forward like most good Audio ... Bass is never muddy and I do not find this or the other high-end Audio Technica carts to be bright sounding once broken in. The specs says it will track between 1 & 3 grams, but that makes no sense. No stylus designed for either end of that spectrum will work well on the other end. This is a high-compliance stylus that tracks best between 1.25 and 1.5 grams. Even at 1.4, mine rides "nose up" unless I use it on the set-up I have that has adjustable VTA. With VTA set correctly when possible, or even when used in a set up with it "nose up", it sounds fantastic. I've had it in rotation for 3 years with other carts on the 3 systems I have set up. It always makes an immediate noticeable impression when switching to it from a lesser cartridge/stylus combination. For the price, you just cannot go wrong.
