Product Information

Although SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL GUNFIGHTER features the same director and many of the same cast members as SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SHERIFF, the film isn't a sequel to the latter movie. Instead, it's another delightful collaboration between director Burt Kennedy and leading man James Garner. This time around Garner plays Latigo Smith, a wandering con man who arrives in the town of Purgatory. When two competing mine owners mistake him for a hired gunman, Latigo sees a chance to get his hands on some of their ill-gotten gains. Trouble arises, however, when the real gunslinger comes to town.

    A 180° turn around laugh fest from " Support your local Sheriff". Same great cast in different roles, just as funny as before with even more additional comedy talent.

    "Support Your Local Gunfighter" Only So-So

    This movie sought to build on the popularity of "Support Your Local Sheriff" and fails. The story line is only fair. Suzanne Pleshette overacts in a role ill suited to her talent. Jack Elam is wonderful, but does not match his performance in "Support Your Local Sheriff." James Garner is stiff and his character lacks the appeal of his earlier role. Had I seen it before I bought it, I would not have bought it.

    VERY GOOD COMEDY WESTERN

    James Garner is good, as always, in this comedy taking place in the Wild West. The other, Support Your Local Sheriff, was better in my opinion. However, this movie is still entertaining!

    Classic Comedic Western

    Bought for my brother for Christmas, along with Support Your Local Sheriff. Both comedies star James Garner, Jack Elam and Harry Morgan. Missed watching them since we no longer have VHS player. Each is a slightly different take on a booming western town after a gold strike. For fans of Garner's wry humor, a must-see!
