It's molded glass, there are very visible molding lines in the cover, waves in the glass itself, and the bottom of the glass cover is uneven. If you're looking for a cut-crystal butter dish like mom had, this is not it. If you're looking for an inexpensive facsimile, this might work. Overall I'd rate it "ok", but nothing better than that. Will I keep it? Yes. But would I buy another one or recommend it to a friend? no.
