This is the latest in a series of mysteries by Elliott Roosevelt and Margaret Truman which I have purchased through e-bay and enjoyed reading. While Roosevelt's books appeal to me because he gives a close-in and personal view of the Roosevelt White House and current events during his father's tenure, Truman's books are good for more reasons. First, though the political milieu about which she writes is always interesting, she also writes a darn good story. Every one of her books hook you in within the first 20 pages, and you do not want to stop reading them. Also, like Agatha Christie, her books are filled with "red herrings"---and determining the ending---and the "villain"---are not always easy. This particular book, like several others of hers, delivers the message that right and ... In other words, you frequently (and definitely in this book) end up caring about the perpetrator of the crime. This is one of her books which feature as protagonists the likeable and appealing professional couple, Annabel and Mac Smith. In fact, they marry in this book, right at the beginning of the story, a fact which enables information about the setting, an important Washington site, to be given. In summary, this book, like all of the offerings of this talented writer, was a most satisfying read.
