Solid mainstream performance for DDR2 memory.

Older classes of motherboards (mine is an Asus P5QD) that use DDR2 memory can still be effective modern PC's. I upgraded my system to this 8GB of RAM, a 64 bit OS and an SSD. Afterwards, it was more responsive than my newer i7 workstation with a rotating hard disk drive. This 800MHz/PC2-6400 memory had one (unrepeatable) memtest86 error in 12 hours of testing and performed flawlessly in 2 weeks of usage. The memory bandwidth was reported as 4,496Mbyte/sec by MEMTEST86+. This memory was taken out of service by me when I was able to replace it with 8GB of faster 1066MHz/PC2-8500 memory that reported 5,322Mbyte/sec band width. The noticeable system performance was small. While I highly recommend this upgrade to others, it is likely the terminal upgrade for my machine. Each stick of memory ...

    Bad Memory

One, or both, of the memory were bad, and caused the system to blue screen whenever they are installed as a 2nd pair to an identical pair already in use.

  • Matched what I was adding to

I have an old Pentium D desktop running windows 10 pro with 4 gb of memory (4 - 1 gb sticks). 4 gb of memory is not enough for windows 10 so I decided to upgrade to see what it would do. I had 2 - 2 gb sticks of this memory in my stock and wanted to add 2 more 2 gb sticks for a total of 8 gb which is the maximum amount this system will hold. After the upgrade and some tuning, the machine responds much better. Next upgrade will replace the Pentium D processor to a quad core processor to see what it will do to performance. i know an SSD will help performance but I like to experiment on this older machine.

  • Solid RAM purchase

These RAM modules work great. I ran some benchmarks and Lynx has shown zero errors after several hours. Good value and it provided some fresh spirit for my good ole' PC. RAM was decently packaged, each module was in a separate box and all was wrapped with some bubble wrapping.

  • Solid made DDR2

DDR2 is becoming out-dated, but still performs well when pitted against DDR3. I have four of these 2 gig Corsair sticks and they've been running flawlessly for years now without any corrupt sectors. Quality memory that's reliable and affordable can be hard to find, especially in an older memory type, but Corsair is a quality manufacturer and I generally trust any products bearing their name brand.
