Light duty for low price. With simple modifications became very useful when workpiece cannot be carried to floor drill press.
Drill Press is light-duty. I drilled through the vertical post and die-case base for a 5/16 bolt, as I was planning to use this part hard (but not often). My Hitachi 7 amp drill had a chuck larger than the clamping collar, so I removed the chuck to install into drill press. I drilled holes for and screwed a piece of 3/4 plywood under the base. I also drilled about 1.375 hole through plywood and base for drill clearance. I used two C-clamps to attach the base to a heavy (7000 pound) trailer steel frame. Frame is angle iron, 3/16 thick. I had to drill 8 holes and I"m not getting any younger. The modified part worked like a charm: the holes were easily drilled successfully without wearing me out or twisting my arms. Yes, It's an inexpensive tool, but this translates to light enough ... Drill Press is light-duty. If you are going to use it professionally all day for years, probably you need to spend more money. Great for home use when man-handling a big, high-torque drill motor has become difficult.
