I found this camera at a thrift store in perfect condition. I popped some film in and tested it, and here's what I found. Even in bright daylight, this camera always fires the flash. This can get to be very annoying when you want to use beautiful natural light instead of the harsh flash. Other earlier Spectra cameras have a flash override switch, which lets you turn it off when you want. This camera has almost no control, besides the physical focus lens switch between normal shooting and 'close-up'. I would not suggest this camera for anyone planning to do anything very creative with this camera. This is a camera for people who want to take advantage of the higher quality and larger format of Spectra and 1200 film, and not much else. For anyone wanting a camera with more control, I would suggest a Spectra System camera or a Spectra Pro camera. They have a lot more controllability, more features and more creative possibilities. Pros: Can use 1200 film, which has 12 exposures instead of only 10 Wider angle lens than previous models, captures more information More compact than previous models Eye-catching design Cons: No distance measurement information, since autofocus is non-sonar Small viewfinder No lighten/darken exposure control function No flash control No focus control/indication No self-timer No tripod mount No multiple exposure supportRead full review
The Spectra 1200FF is a great looking camera, especially among the later Polaroids, and it has the widest angle lens of any of the cameras using the Spectra Image integral film. Unfortunately, it is just as dumbed down as most of the 600 cameras. FF stands for fixed focus, not auto focus or manual focus, fixed focus. There are two focus settings, one for regular use and one for closer (not close up). There is no self timer. There is a viewfinder. I bought the camera because I liked the look, and the larger format Spectra film, and because I am a Polaroid nut. If this is to be your only Polaroid camera I'd say pass, and look for a Spectra camera with more user controls.
I bought this product because I am a Polaroid freak. Its unique and is as basic a point and shoot as it gets. I like that its easy to use and a great conversational piece. You can still get film through Impossible Project and here on Ebay. The pricing for the film is quite high but for the wider format picture you get, it's well worth it( don't buy super old fim as the chemicals will have dried up and wont spread evenly). Its also great to experiment with, like emulsion lifts, weird color shifts with old film, or scanning and making poster size Polaroid prints. The Camera is not complicated to open, as that is done by a button on the view finder. The only other button is Flash on/off. So no Self timer, or Auto/manual focus. Just like allot of the Polaroids (other than sx70/680/690) what you see is basically what you get in the picture that comes out. Loading is easy like any other Polaroid and closing the camera is just as easy with a push on the lower tab on the back. There really isn't any accessories for this particular camera, but the other spectra cameras due. The cameras compact enough to keep in the glove box or backpack. Just buy one and use the rest of your money on film. All spectra film works in all the spectra/image line up of cameras.Read full review
Pros: A simple to use Polaroid camera. You press the button it takes a shot! You are able to flick a switch to change between portrait and landscape mode (this switches lens internally) Picture quality gives you the typical Polaroid quality of image...(i.e. not as clear or colourful as 35mm, but has its own characteristics that people like) This camera allows you to use the 12 exposure films as well as the 10 exposure films available in this polaroid film format. (FYO polaroid 1200 film is larger than the more common 600 type film) Cons: uses a plastic lens, and if your after exposure control and other camera features there are none!.lol All the best Jon
This is one of those Polaroids that are no longer manufactured. If deciding to purchase this camera ensure that the film door latch is functioning properly both releasing and catching when opening and closing. Also, check that the lens cover opens and closes properly to protect the lens (this MAY BE a minor concern in that you may be able to open and close the cover manually with a slight nudge) ** The film for this camera is available at IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT for a nominal price, as are other "Polaroid Films" (these are not the old Polaroid Films but Impossible Project newly formulated manufactured films.

i really likes it.. although i'm not sure of how much it will cost me if i buy it and it gets shipped here in the philippines. it's gorgeous and it looks sleek and convenient. flat and it has instant photos. it't like a polaroid land camera + digital camera all in one!
Im in love with everything Polaroid right now and this camera helped I had never owned a spectra but as a later model it has some better features I'm really enjoying it the film is the hardest part but aside from that its a beautiful example of a Polaroid camera
