The Spin
These are fine centrifuges and I have used first one then 2 and now 4 of these for several years. The V6500 name is misleading in that they do not spin at 6500 rpm but more like 3500. I have been using my 4 machines to get rid of sediment in my prickly pear fruit extract so I can get a very clear juice to make jam. The tubes hold 15 ml, so doing a large quantity of liquid requires several machines. Several cautions are necessary when buying a used machine. Anyone who says the machine 'works great' probably doesn't know anything about centrifuges. They should indicate that it has an operational timer, a power cord, an intact cover, 4 rubber feet, and that the power light works. Beware that some of these machines use 10 ml tubes in the shields ( tube holders ) and this is a problem ... The normal tube is 15 ml and these will not fit if someone has put non-removable spacers in the tube holders. Be sure to ask if the machine vibrates on start up or spin down. Any vibration can disrupt the sediment in the tubes. Be sure the machine comes with 6 tube holders. I have seen some for sale that say 'Works Great' and do not have all 6 tube holders. Yes, it works great, but is not fully functional. As usual buyer beware! I tend not to buy machines that look beat up or have a defect because these have been abused and will not last.
